You guys are drawing a false equivalency between moderating an online forum and enforcing law.

Apple: mods here selectively enforce "rules" (their "discretion") based on their personal feelings towards specific users.

Orange: policemen, charged with enforcing the law, don't routinely persue people for minor infractions while their department as a whole focuses on specific crimes that are more pressing.

I shouldn't have to explain logical fallacies to adults. Take a logic class in college or something. Also take classes on law.

And for the record, I got pulled over for speeding before and the officer gave me a break on it for letting him sit in my Aston Martin. If you are nice to police, that see you aren't a real criminal and respond well.

The notify without deletion thing is some crap, because mods complain most moderations aren't against the ToS. Marking users and then rarely seeing a result is will exacerbate that issue. This is especially because GFAQs' ToS is rarely cogent, nor are its enforcement measures transparent.

SBAllen and his mods have recently come under a lot of fire for uneven enforcement and bias, and being able to claim "we did something! you just can't see it!" is a great cover story.

SBAllen may have a high IQ, but mine is higher. If he expected to fool me, or any of the other highly cognitive users of this site, he was badly mistaken.

People on this board say I'm a horrible person, but look at how many people are literally defending an organized campaign to harass someone with a mental disorder. And I can see why the mods are so popular with these trolls; not only are people basically confessing to harassing him, and victim blaming him, but the mods are perfectly okay with not even giving them a 3KL for harassment.

I totally agree. There was one time when I asked a mod if I could PM him some questions I had about the ToS and he told me that I couldnt and I had to post it in my topic or ask the mods. When I posted my grievances, the mod told me to go fuck myself and that he wasnt going to bother writing a response. I then posted my questions to the Ask the Mods board and I got suspended.

LOL. Sometimes I'll post on ATM like "yo how do I mark this type of violation?", and they give me a 3KL for "off topic" while other topics like that are actually responded to.

If this site's administration were transparent about their style of enforcing the rules (bias, who is a friend or enemy of each mod), it would save everyone time. I'm trying to help.

SBAllen decided he's fine with selective enforcement and "mod discretion" against people they don't like. We all know this, including me, but their routine of playing pretend is just silly.

SBAllen runs the site, he's allowed to be as unfair on it as he wants as long as he isn't violating any laws.

And also, if allowing mods to be abusive so they stick around without being paid is what he has to do, that's just pragmatic towards his bottom line.

I appealed a moderation, citing that what I said isn't against the rules if they let everyone else do the certain thing except for me. Naturally, I got a ton of BS answers all the way up to lead mod (thanks, Error), so I wrote to the admin:

Can you add a section to the ToS called "Specific things Franklin can't do"?

Then I was thinking that SBAllen could do that for all the users himself and his mods don't like. That way, we can all post with an understanding of each other.

My father taught me that the greatest indication of a man's personality is how he treats those that are weaker than them, mentally or physically. I think that we are pretty good people.

I've seen hoth post and you don't seem like him, he does seem to troll on purpose.

And yeah I don't go out of my way to be nice to posters like Dawkins, I don't think that's really as necessary as it is IRL. But to actively seeking him out on and off gamefaqs while compiling all the info about him you can to use against him? That's straight up disgusting. Imagine finding out one of your friends IRL was doing that, you'd be so ashamed of them.

I just don't see why people find so much enjoyment from it. The only explanation is they're vad people who enjoy other people's suffering to the point that they seek out the weakest people who are the easiest prey to shit on to make themselves feel better.

Hoth doesn't troll, at least not on purpose. The reason he posted about the medication he was taking before is because he was trying to explain to people on GameFAQs that he has some issues that he is trying to work out. Despite Hoth having been a minor at the time of that posts, that didn't stop depraved people in their mid-20's+ from launching a harassment campaign against him.

I can't imagine how sad someone must be with themselves to harass a teenager with some social issues. Even worse than harassing an adult with mental issues (Dawkins), I assume.

Xsquader has/tried to cyber attack users before including myself. When he did it to me and other users apparently he'd use some Skype glitch to obtain IP addresses. I was not, but I'm betting people would make a gimmick out of me should I constantly spam about my depression day in and day out. Regarding the trolls and stalkers: It goes without saying but those people get off on this kind of stuff, and we all know this. You can only ignore them and move on. I got stalked on the Smash Bros Brawl boards back in the day by people that beat me in 1v1s. You slap them to the ignore list and you move on with life. Let their unheard cries do just that, go unheard. Threatening legal action because some guy on a video game message board slandered you is laughable at best.

There are some very real great things happening here (e.g. the steam gift topic every year), but all in all, for anyone, I don't think this place should be a "safety net" for anybody visiting.

It's sick and really says a lot about who they are as people. I'm not one to say your posts on CE say anything about your personality IRL, but this kind of concerted effort to continually harass a vulnerable person, going so far as to compile information on them and continue to harass them off of gamefaqs? That's actually truly sick and does indicate quite a bit about who they really are.

I'm not Hoth, to answer your other post. Basically the troll clique that has assaulted my cousin over GameFAQs for the last few years calls everyone that is nice to him his "alt". It's a lie that's been repeated so much, people believe it despite all of the evidence to the contrary.

But back on topic, I TOTALLY agree. When I meet vulnerable people, I'm as nice to them as possible and wouldn't ever dream of being rude to them, no matter how difficult it may be to get along with them sometimes. My father taught me that the greatest indication of a man's personality is how he treats those that are weaker than them, mentally or physically. I think that we are pretty good people.

PS Error once suspended me for saying my IQ was higher than another user's. I didn't say they had a low IQ, or anything like that. I just said my IQ is higher is all. But all of the insults towards Dawkins intelligence will remain until that topic is purged.

@Dustin1280 people on CE routinely stalk him by taking advantage of how public he is to find private details about him, and then harass him about it on and off of this site. Other than that your post is pretty reasonable, but a certain distressed troll clique on this board has a track record of stalking and harassing people relentlessly that have mental disorders. I'd hope that they wouldn't be such malicious people if they ever were more than 10 feet away from their keyboards at once.

@DoGCyN I agree that he shouldn't get a free pass because of a mental disorder. When you were suffering from severe depression (sorry to hear that, by the way, hopefully things are much better for you now), were you also being stalked on GameFAQs and then harassed off-site? Imagine dealing with that. It's no wonder he came here to say "I've had enough".

I'm a highly mentally stable person and sometimes the endless harassment on this site is a little annoying, so I can't imagine what it would be like for someone with a mental disorder to have to go through it, relentlessly and for months.

It was probably a combination of those things...

He only said that by the way Admins and their Mods act, someone would probably end up attacking the site. He also said he'd only DDoS someone with their permission.

He's a guy that claims he has a mental disorder, that is regularly harassed on and off of this site by a certain group of posters. It's no wonder he wanted to vent some frustration.

I once got suspended for saying Hoth donates to charity. Error goes through my post history once every while and randomly suspends me over something. I'm not sure what the point of that was.
