If Shadow is the Sonic equivalent of Venom, Infinite is Carnage. Shadow and Venom were introduced as darker, evil versions of Sonic and Spider-Man, but because they were so popular they stuck around, and eventually shifted towards an anti-hero / rival role. So a new character was needed to fill Shadow and Venom's old roles, who was even edgier with absolutely zero redeeming qualities. Enter Infinite and Carnage.

I hope Infinite comes back at some point, but I don't see it happening any time soon. Sega mandated that the Sonic comics aren't allowed to use Infinite, and he wasn't in Team Sonic Racing, so I'm guessing that they only intended him as a one-off, aside from being in Smash Ultimate as one of the weakest spirits in the game.

Shadow probably takes it, but I'm still curious about speed feats for round 2.

Sonic has outrun black holes on at least two occasions (the end of Sonic Colours, and Null Space in Sonic Forces). If we assume that Shadow is almost as fast as Sonic, he could probably do the same.

Shadow

He's simply much too fast for Kat to catch him. Kat can speed herself up using her gravity powers, but she would need to take short breaks to recharge her powers if she overuses them, while Shadow has no such limitation. She can use gravity to grab objects and protect herself from Shadow's attacks, but she would be too slow to be able to hit him either by throwing these objects at him, or by kicking him. She could catch him by using gravity in a wide area around her instead of targeting him specifically, but again her gravity is finite and she would need to deal some major damage in the short time she has him since Shadow is quite durable, which I don't think she would be capable of.

The Beast

If he can stop bullets fired at point blank range with one finger, it stands to reason he could do the same if they were fired from further away because he would have more time to react, so John Wick's firearms expertise is invalidated in this match-up. That means this would have to be a melee fight, and while John Wick may have the techniques necessary to quickly incapacitate his opponent, again the Beast has him beat in this area since his strength is far above what is realistically possible in John Wick's universe.

The Beast was defeated in his universe by the Buddha's Palm, which only worked because the Beast headbutted Sing into orbit, giving him the opportunity to build up momentum as he plummeted back down to Earth. Even if John Wick survived being headbutted into orbit, he wouldn't survive re-entry, let alone be able to attack from it. John also doesn't have any comparable attacks he could use instead.

How Bad Can I Be? ranked quite a bit higher than I was expecting, considering it was sort of a joke nomination.

One thing I do like about this case is that when Fawles drinks the poison, Edgeworth demands that the trial be stopped immediately. That moment has stuck with me because we see that, even during his Demon Prosecutor phase, Edgeworth wasn't completely irredeemable. It also makes for a contrast to when Phoenix tries to swallow the poison in 3-1 and Payne simply gloats that he's about to win the case.

Mature in the ways I should be immature, and immature in the ways I should be mature, let's put it like that.

I voted for Chris, because he's the only member of the main cast who has been in every game since 5, he's the only returning character in 7, and he and the RE7 protagonist are the only characters confirmed for 8 so far.

There's also Marvel VS Capcom to consider. Chris and Jill have 2 games each, and although Jill was introduced in MVC2, she was DLC in MVC3 with a completely different moveset, and she wasn't in Infinite at all. Chris was in MVC3 and Infinite without his moveset being completely overhauled between games. Leon hasn't been in at all, even though there was high demand for him to replace Chris. Come to think of it, Nemesis has two MVC games to his name too, so he could also make a case for face status. He's definitely the most iconic monster of the series.

I think it's just the main series games that wanted to push back Mega Evolution in favour of a new gimmick, and they felt they needed to portray Mega Evolution as a bad thing, while also hyping up Z Moves as the new ultimate bond between trainer and Pokemon, since Mega Evolution seemed to be reasonably popular. Z Moves weren't as popular, so Sword and Shield didn't try to portray it as a bad thing to make people not want it back, as far as I'm aware. Mega Evolution is still in other things like the anime, Pokemon Go and Pokemon Masters despite this, so even though we probably won't get any new ones, it's going to stick around in some capacity.

Funny you should mention Korrina as well, because she returned in one of the most recent anime episodes, and this time Mega Lucario didn't lose control and go berserk, so it losing control in the first battle was a case of it being unable to handle the surge of power at the time, rather than Mega Evolution being inherently a bad thing.

Senator Armstrong

I found a Youtube video the other day that has "It Has To Be This Way" from Metal Gear Rising playing over the Abby VS Ellie boss fights, and although it's obviously a meme video made because of the Senator Armstrong comparisons, I did think that the song's lyrics fit the context of this game's story and the relationship between Ellie and Abby unironically. In particular, "Violence breeds violence, but in the end it has to be this way", ties into the cycle of revenge where both characters may recognize that they should move on, they can't bring themselves to do it, until they've lost almost everything, and there are other lyrics that highlight how Ellie and Abby aren't so different after all, and despite their hatred of each other, they have a lot in common.

The girl also looks very uncomfortable and pitiable when I.M. Meen pulls out her hair ribbon, and considering he's a grown man invading her personal space like that, it's got to count as being at least a little villainous.

It's actually a bit weird for me to hear the Pillar Men theme now without subconsciously adding Lil John to it.

I think that was Rustland from CTR Nitro Fueled right at the end of the gameplay video. I wasn't expecting that to return, but I'm pleasantly surprised! Will Mega Mix return as a boss I wonder?

John Boyega and Oscar Isaac were so unhappy that their characters weren't gay that Boyega has said that he's 100% done with Star Wars and will never reprise the role of Finn no matter what, and I'm almost certain Oscar Isaac said the same thing.

I thought there were lots of things that should have been explained but weren't, like how did Palpatine survive, which has already been mentioned. The Rise of Skywalker itself still felt Marvelly with less of the unique Star Wars feel, like the previous two films. It doesn't help that the finale copies Endgame pretty blatantly at least twice (The bit where all the ships arrive to provide back-up, I thought for sure Portals was going to play while someone radioed in saying "On your left." and the climax of the Palpatine Vs Rey battle is a dead ringer for "I am inevitable." "I am Iron Man.") Comparing to Endgame last week, that film was considered a major crowd-pleaser, which had it scoring highly. The Rise of Skywalker tried to do the same, but the audience goodwill needed for such an approach to work wasn't there between the Last Jedi, Solo, and the Star Wars Battlefront 2 lootboxes debacle. To be fair, it's also a lot harder to come up with a satisfying conclusion to a 40 year old saga than a 10 year old one that's been a more or less constant presence throughtout the last decade.

I'm between 1 and 2, but I voted 1. The Force Awakens tried to set up a plot arc for the trilogy, and the Last Jedi undid it all, but didn't replace it with anything. Therefore, I couldn't bring myself to care much about the Rise of Skywalker because we're coming to the end of the trilogy, and yet we still had no real idea of where the plot would go, so I found it difficult to get invested. That progression of the overall arc can be seen in the Original and Prequel Trilogies, but not in the Sequel Trilogy. I only watched it because a friend invited me to the cinema with him, and I wouldn't have gone otherwise.

I will say however, Babu Frik is the MVP. He better be in Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga! With around 500 playable characters promised, I fancy his chances. Should I cross fingers for Pong Krell as well?

This applies to the PS4, Xbox One and PC versions, I don't know about the others, because the tweet I saw didn't specify if the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions are also free. Anyway, it's the Ultimate Edition, which includes the base game and all DLC. Anyone who's interested and hasn't tried the game out yet, or think they may give it a go at some point, now's the time!

I'm concerned that Jevil's song going out doesn't bode well for my Dingodile nomination because it's the same singer for both. I'll also join in the praise for the banners, I wasn't expecting those at all!

Just realised two things:

1: The LGBT-hunting Christians are this game's equivalent of the cannibals from the original: A new faction who appear near the end to serve as cannon fodder you don't feel bad for killing because they totally deserve it.

2: Naughty Dog and Neil Druckmann share the initials ND, which was pointed out already - but those initials are also shared with Nathan Drake! Uncharted and The Last of Us are set in the same universe confirmed! (Then again, you could already pretend that they were in a shared universe as early as Uncharted 3, which mentions Cordyceps in a newspaper in the first level, but realistically that's just a hint towards Naughty Dog's next project at the time, like Pixar did in some of their earlier films.)

Come Ace Attorney 7, Lamiroir is D-E-D DEAD. Has Ace Attorney ever had a recurring character die? The closest I can think of is Mia, but she dies really early on and is channeled regularly for a while afterwards. Although Lamiroir isn't a major character, she has appeared in three cases (4-3, 4-4 and 6-5), and AA7 is bound to give her at least one more.

My prediction, Lamiroir will finally tell Apollo and Trucy that they're siblings and she is their mother. Apollo will take it badly and get into an argument with Lamiroir before storming off, with Lamiroir following him. The next day, Lamiroir is found dead, and Apollo is the prime suspect for her murder because of the argument. After all, Apollo hasn't been accused of murder yet, and most of the other major characters have!

1: I'm impressed that ND showed enough restraint to not make the religious zealots Trump supporters, or include one wearing a MAGA hat. It must have been tempting, considering everything else that's in the game.

2: More importantly, if Abby was being crucified by the religious zealots when Ellie found her, why did she save Abby instead of just leaving the zealots to it? Is there an "I'm the only one allowed to defeat you!" thing going on, or is it just that even ND thought the main antagonist being taken out by a wacky wayside tribe without Ellie's involvement was too much of an anticlimax?

I'm not sure if it's intentional or not, but I like how Dual Destinies ends with a two-part case, whereas SoJ does the opposite and the final case is essentially two cases in one.

I've been wanting Kingdom Hearts Theatrhythm for a while, so I'm happy with this. I wonder if there will be a few songs from Final Fantasy and The World Ends With You as well. Curtain Call had a few crossover songs as DLC, so it's possible. If we do get Disney songs from the films, I second Make A Man Out Of You.

I played Turnabout Substitution as a fan game, and the idea behind it is that it's essentially the Apollo Justice equivalent of 1-5, or 4-5 if you will.

Joel didn't kill Abby's father in cold blood, he threatened Joel with a scalpel first. The player is given the choice of whether to kill the other doctors or let them live, because they don't attack Joel or try to kill him, whereas Abby's father did, and the world of The Last of Us has already been well established as "kill or be killed" for everyone. Joel may be the one we see killing everyone because he's the main character, but everyone else in the world is trying to kill Joel too, and same goes for off-screen characters who live in this world killing people who threaten them.

I imagine that if any cards get banned that remain useable in the current meta, or cards with effects for a specific type when there are other legal cards that offer the same effect for different types, that WotC could easily make new cards with the same effect as the banned ones to replace them.

Unrelated, but this was how I felt after watching The Last Jedi.

If that spoiler on the previous page is referring to who I think it is... Does it mean the resurgence of Senator Armstrong memes? If so, I can't wait to see Youtube footage of the final boss fight synced to It has to be this way!

I think Thanos carries Infinity War. Despite doing horrible things, he doesn't take joy in it. He views it as a burden that he is willing to take for the sake of what he views as the greater good. I like the final shot of the film where he sits to watch the sunrise. I think that, at that moment, he's thinking something like "Was it really worth it?" After being hyped up for so long that he'd ended up becoming a joke, he ended up redeeming himself as a character and living up to the hype. I'll be honest, I was actually rooting for Thanos to win in Infinity War.

He's not as compelling in Endgame where he's more of a generic evil supervillain, but it makes sense because it's not the same Thanos, and it's not his story any more either. It's the Avengers coming back from their lowest point to overcome seemingly impossible odds. Thanos is as quotable as ever though,

Recently, I also found Avengers Memegame on Youtube, an abridged version of the film that adds shitpost meme characters like Shrek, Tobey Maguire Spider-Man and John Wick to the Avengers. I found it funny, and yet I thought the parody version of the Soul Stone scene was somehow sadder than the real one, despite how ridiculous it was (In this version, Master Oogway from Kung Fu Panda sacrifices himself because he can't bear to watch Hawkeye and Black Widow fight over which of them will die, which at least means Black Widow survives in this version). It's a bit like how I preferred the Just a Pancake version of Yen Sid's Big Damn Heroes scene in Kingdom Hearts 3 to the real one. Speaking of which, if you're taking nominations for this series, Kingdom Hearts 3 would be a good finale to do.

We could get Hit Girl to pose as their latest victim, and when they take her to their billionaire pedo island, she kills them all.

This isn't related to the ending (I voted 3 points in the poll, by the way), but is it just me, or does anyone else think Bronn was meant to die in the convoy attack in season 7? I say that because that's the last time he does anything of note, as he just gets the odd line here and there for the rest of season 7, and his season 8 subplot goes nowhere and is quickly dropped.

The convoy attack seemed to be building up to his death, as back in season 1, Tyrion plucks him out of obscurity to be his champion in trial by combat, and from there he keeps increasing his status and fortune. This changes when he encounters the Dothraki, a foe he can't outwit or bargain with. One of them even cuts the fat sack of cash Bronn had at the time from his belt, which I thought was symbolic of him beginning as a nobody, building himself up and then going back to being a nobody just as he's about to die, because death is the great equaliser that doesn't discriminate between rich and poor. Of course, he ends up surviving, so I wonder if the showrunners chickened out of killing him at the last minute due to him being one of their favourite characters, but also having nothing for him to do from there because the rest of the series was planned without him being around.

I wonder if there will be multiple songs that score full marks, or if you have already listened to the eventual winner.

This was a very funny match, and also a relatable one, because sometimes when I lose a Street Fighter match against a player like this, I get annoyed and find myself thinking that I "should" have been able to win. Knowing that your opponent is using a basic and repetitive technique that you could easily counter doesn't matter if you keep getting hit by it anyway. That said, it is very satisfying to face a player like this and win because you're able to predict every move they will make and punish them for it.

On the subject of Street Fighter 4 matches, my favourite is the Snake Eyes gauntlet, where Snake Eyes was the last player on his team and the other team hadn't lost anyone yet, then he comes back and beats them all. The whole fight is in the video, and Snake Eyes comes in around the 49 minute mark.

This opening bodes well for Ratchet and Clank and Little Big Planet continuing even though they haven't had any games in a few years. On the other hand, I'll take it as a red flag for the likes of Infamous, Killzone, Sly Cooper, Medievil and Gravity Rush. At least Gravity Rush 2 worked reasonably well as a finale if we never get another one.
