I am unconvinced that Revengeance Raiden ends up not preheating the oven, being terribly upset that his cake turned out poorly to start with, and then destroying the oven. Like MGS2 Raiden? Rational person. MGS4 Raiden? Horribly depressed, would probably cry into the cake, but would try again. Revengeance Raiden post full "let 'er rip"? I don't know if he gives himself more than one go without growing cartoonishly upset that he's got an uncooked center.

Can i say how much I love the idea of Binging With Babbish or something being the crux of Raiden's continued survival?

Yeah I'm kinda not into losing by default. But like, I didn't wanna be the one to say a dirty word first.

I do have to disagree on that point. Bios create a point of intention for a mercenary, creating a basis that can then be exaggerated on, while giving a clear weak point in the intent of a bio. The amount of bias that a bio gives is honestly lesser than a very core mechanic of mercs, which would be "why are you arguing my 6/week loses to a 5/week?! If it were weaker, it'd be lower priced!" The admin bias exists simply in terms of basic game balancing; honestly, I feel the bios do work to mitigate this by creating a baseline expectation of abilities.

I also do not feel that the onus of a merc leader is research; that's freely available information, you should be able to know WHAT a guy does when you get them to at least some extent, especially when it might not be instantly obvious. I feel that the onus should be on the leader to be able to take that information and put it into an engaging, or at least amusing, argument on why their stupid toys should beat up other stupid toys. Every model is built with some level of intention, be it buffing up a singular target, having one cool thing they do that makes them a 4/week but the rest of their kit is lacking so they have a stronger ability web to make up for it, etc. Being able to state that intent is very important, and we've seen a lot of competitive games go this route in explaining their philosophies behind, say, how fighting game characters work and what buffs and nerfs are being applied to better lean into that.

I do agree that direct comparison to other mercs not from the same series shouldn't be done. But I think, at minimum, this is a net neutral proposition, as this expectations of what a merc can do are already built in to their pricing, it's just making those factors transparent. And at the very least, bios woulda been of significant stress relief to me back in the day.

Batman would never fight someone who is entirely harmless, and would defend Luigi from Vince ordering 'Taker to go over a popular babyface looking for that important win to solidify themselves after being in tag team Hell for so long.

While I understand the criticism and do agree Kazooie started it, I feel like Kazooie is really well-tuned in making that collection actually matter. Was super easy to hurt yourself, health was limited by non-respawning enemies, and you'd have to start all over if you died, making you route out the levels better. Plus the fact that it both has very stringent conditions on completion (I believe it's 94% of everything to get to the final boss, and 98% for the final upgrade against said boss) makes it less of a carrot-on-a-stick game for me and more "no. No you get ALL of the carrots or you go home." Which is meaner and I like it a lot more.

I worked at a summer camp the year Puss in Boots' solo movie was released to theaters. For whatever reason, every single child was obsessed with it. Every single time we would put on a movie, they would vote for it to be Puss in Boots. We had a tournament to see who their favorite princess was. Princess Kitty Softpaws won. They asked for Puss in Boots to be added to the theatrical productions we were putting on with them. I watched at least part of that movie at least three times a week for multiple weeks on end.

No. I'd be mid on him otherwise leaning toward a light yes, but I cannot hear MAMA GOOSE. I WILL BRING YOU TO YOUR BABY. one more time.

The reasons why Ratchet and Clank is good has nothing to do with its platforming.

Crash Bandicoot has the best individual levels of anything here, but every game has some levels that absolutely tank its average (4 is still really good, might be the best pure platformer on offer by any series)

Jak... I mean it had that one mines level in Jak 1 that was good? And that one underwater city level that was a worse Crash 2 sewer level? Rest is pretty mid insofar as platforming goes unless you count the bouncy car.

Spyro is a super elegant collectathon, but suffers even more heavily from uneven good/bad levels than Crash does, even if what he's doing vibes with me more. And he doesn't have a Crash 4.

Ape Escape might as well not be a platformer outside of those racing levels, and they're awkward.

Sly's the best of the bunch in terms of averages, both in how the platforming is implemented and how the overall game's story and tone mixes in with it. He does what both Crash and Spyro do really well in different games, and I don't think he ever sinks to the same lows that any other (non-Ratchet) series here does,

Sackboy feels like crap when he jumps I don't like it.

I'd say Sly overall, though Crash has the individual "best" platforming to his name and Ratchet's up there if you just ignore this being a platforming competition and just say "games".
