From my understanding, it's more of a limited* edition. When I watched GN's overview of them It's Valve testing different supply chains and the water for a market of different color options in the future (which Steve rightfully pointed out this thing was going to sell out immediately.) I'd imagine there are mod kits to change colors anyway like other handhelds. Haven't looked into that but I know Switch has tons. I also found out Steam has like, no customer support. It's literally impossible to talk to a human via chat or phone call. They should at least have a phone number for their expensive hardware. --- This is where cool people write stuff. |

Valve will eventually release the Steam Deck 2 and it too should have an OLED screen. It's nice to see Valve is happy with the amount of decks they're selling. Have they ever released a Valve Index 2? Then they just abandoned the Steam controller. I got a couple when they were on clearance for $5. Don't buy a GPU with less than 16GB of VRAM if you want to play current gen games that are made for consoles first. PS5 has 16GB of VRAM and games like Jedi Survivor and Last Of Us Remake are coming to the PC market expecting that, too. From what I gather it's just a bigger/better OLED screen, lighter, better battery life, more storage. The form factor stays the same. I dont always have time to play a game for an hour or so on the console but with the switch I can just pick it up for 10 or 20 mins at a time when I take a break from whatever Im doing . Ive finished for more games on portable systems than I have on consoles . I kind of missed the Deck this summer and played a lot of Switch. Not because I prefer handhelds, but because my desktop blows out so much hot air running AAA games I had to crank up the AC. It can raise the room temp by 10 degrees or so.
