It's a lot longer than it needs to be because the lead-up to the actual murder takes forever. Might be the longest amount of time until someone actually dies for a case in the series. The investigation isn't super great either and it has some dumb stuff in it.

But once Mario, Luigi, and the lost Mario Brother take the stand during the trial, it gets really fun. It's a shame Takumi treats this game as a setup for the next game, so these cases don't stand well on their own in many respects.

Well yeah, Triple Triad doesn't really attempt to have a story. Like yeah, the characters talk about it sometimes, but other than the card club sidequest, it's detached from the rest of the game.

If they ever remake the game and it's not just a straight remake, I'd imagine they'd at least implement a Triple Triad tournament or something like that.

It's kinda wild that the game opens with three single segment cases. It's a really good intro to the game's jury system, with a crazy twist that you're defending a guilty guy and you get him off the hook. I wish the case had a little more meat to it, but what's here is quite good!

Triple Triad without a guide is kinda frustrating. The whole optimal abolishing of rules and save scumming puts it behind queen's blood for me. But the fact cards have more uses thanks to GF skills was neat.

I dunno, I never used a guide to optimize Triple Triad, and I still think it's great!

Trying to get the Laguna card on Lunar Base is really tough with its insane rule set, but other than that, I don't struggle too much with getting all the rare cards.
