The entire Last Dance documentary unabashedly painted Krauss as the villain of the Bulls dynasty, so that reaction shouldn't be surprising.

I'll always have a soft spot for MJ because he was the player of my childhood but the Spurs became my favorite team because of Duncan (and David Robinson, too).

I have no clue about any of these. I suppose I could just guess on the Dark Souls/Bloodborne/Elden Ring trio, but I think I'll pass.

I thought ME2 looked fine. I think we probably underestimated its competition a bit.

It's important to remember that POTD results don't strictly translate to contest results either. FFVI can beat FFVII in a POTD but it isn't close in a contest.

Not that it matters now.

Unless BotW has weakened since the last contest, I think it handles TotK pretty easily. People prize novelty and something feeling fresh or original. As lauded as TotK is, it's still seen as a very very very good expansion pack. It's not going to have the same generation-defining impact as BotW.

Maybe TotK could do some weird rSFF in a direct matchup though.

Meaning Tears of the Kingdom is just Majora's Mask with a fresh coat of paint and should be just fine to win Game of the Decade 3

Looking back on previous GotYs that went from 3 games to 2, the non-SFF/LFF entries tend to split their votes fairly close to 50/50 between the two entries, maybe 55/45 at most.

If that's the case with RE4, BG3 should still be able to win even if Zelda gets 100% of Wonder's votes.

For a frame of reference, when Sephiroth went out in the 2006 Battle Royal, Cloud took in about 75% of his percentage. Nintendo SFF tends to be more aggressive than Square SFF.

I'm assuming we're having a system of the year poll before we get to the GotY finals, so we'll have to wait to see how many games make it.

Although we can guess what system gets left off.

I had a feeling the SMRPG remake would get the shaft.

Rewatched it a year or two ago and I still didn't think it was great. The entire Ghost storyline is pretty bad.

Meaning I wouldn't bet on it

Watched the first two episodes of What If Season 2. Nebula as a cyberpunk detective was great. Second episode was fine, but this was at least a scenario worth exploring.

Can't wait to see what game gets snubbed tomorrow for a port.

Kingdom Hearts III got snubbed, but it also didn't have great review scores, so that's probably why that happened.

Eh, I still think XVI beats RE4. It didn't exactly look great in its own GotY poll.

Yep, you nailed why Skies of Arcadia is so great. I'm generally not one of those guys who wants to find everything and do everything, especially in an RPG, but SoA's sense of adventure pulled me all the way in.

Nier's soundtrack is still a top tier video game OST. Honestly the game shouldn't be special. It didn't have a big budget and it's painfully obvious in many ways, but the crazy moments keep you invested all the way to the end.
