oh shit I forgot to mention Sharon being totally disinterested was actually really funny. one of the best things about the joke. if you've been watching South Park for a long time you know that Randy going all in on every latest fad is a huge aspect of his character and Sharon basically hates it and is so fed up with it by like, I dunno, season 13 or 14 maybe? so imagine this has still been going on for years after that. the White People Renovating Houses thing is basically just another gimmick in a long line of bits that Randy has done, that's why she can't really muster the energy to care or play along.

Heidi and Cartman was cringy, sure. While I didn't like seeing Heidi go through this, I was a fan of seeing how Cartman perceived himself as the victim. It reminded me of Fishsticks, where his imagination carries him far away from the truth at the expense of others.

yeah I think the major difference is that in Fishsticks the commentary is about comedians stealing jokes from other comedians which is not something I personally relate to and not REALLY a huge deal. while in this case it was just Cartman literally acting like a very realistic narcissist and emotionally abusing someone by gaslighting them. it honestly felt pretty personal and disturbing in a way that poking fun at kanye west/carlos mencia does not.

I've been watching a lot of south park lately and I would say this episode was pretty mediocre. it was very weird and had a lot of weak ideas that went into it. even the really simple episode plots from like season 4 could make me laugh consistently while this just... didn't make me laugh much at all?

the good:
- it was cool that randy's hammer is the protocol zero hammer from last season. it's also likely he had to borrow gerald's hammer because stan stole all of his tools in a previous season. this kind of continuity is pretty fun.

- there were some parts that kinda amused me I guess. the white people renvoting houses skit was a funny idea but I mean I don't think it was worthy of an entire episode.

the bad:
- "automation is like totally going to replace menial jobs bro" is literally the go-to talking point for people who think they are super clever and aren't really all that smart. this felt like it was pandering to the lowest common denominator in a way that south park doesn't often do. then again I guess in a way this is them writing to their audience but it has never felt so heavy handed before.

- the heidi and cartman stuff was really unpleasant to watch. I don't know if it was supposed to be funny or what. I mean I understand that it was a satire and all but man, just the fact that Heidi is basically so good and Cartman is so terrible. I generally do not enjoy turning on TV just to see good characters get treated like shit for no reason.

- not many characters got any focus in this episode, which has been a weakness I feel of the last few seasons. this entire episode was basically about randy, cartman, and daryl. daryl as the featured character for just this episode. while any typical episode is likely to have a huge cartman and/or randy focus. also the redneck posse coming back is just so cliche and expected I couldn't even be that amused by it. it's like matt and trey were sitting around going 'hey, people were down on the last season. but, you know, people really loved the TEK ER JERBS joke. let's just do that exact same joke again.' and then they were too lazy to go anywhere clever with it so they just went with the college freshmen tier depth plot of saying "automation will replace menial jobs" and adding nothing else to the topic. apparently it takes 22 minutes to say that now.

morning routine cleared

one cool thing about not exercising for a while is how, at first, it feels kinda bad because I can't perform nearly as well as what I know my previous "peak" was. but then I guess since my body is just sort of out of practice I made really quick improvements. it feels like my performance is rapidly increasing again even after just a week or two of sticking with a normal routine.

the optimal final hand to shuffle varies based on your opponent. you always want to have both dead man's hand when you shuffle. this allows you to go infinite and beat even jade druid in the fatigue game. that's also what the skulking geist is for. so even if skulking geist is near the bottom of your deck it doesn't matter. draw RNG is less important because your gameplay is to eventually draw through your entire deck.

holding both cold light oracles till the end of the game to repeatedly shuffle them and blast your opponent with fatigue damage sounds nice but I think it rarely happens. generally you need to use them during the game to get to the bottom of your deck more quickly. a great card to try and keep till the end is Bring It On. being able to endlessly gain 10 armor over and over again is fantastic. especially if you hold some kind of removal for the end game (execute if your opponent will be playing big minions in sequence, brawl/sleep with fishes if you expect to repeatedly deal with a full board)

learning when to shuffle, when to hold, which removal to keep, how long you can leave stuff on the board before clearing, etc. etc. is a huge part of playing the deck properly. it is VERY skill intensive and requires lots of game and experience piloting the deck to master.

yeah it looks like it has charm but that trailer leaves me with a few concerns. as Tom mentioned the game itself looks slow. secondly, the view window is like really small compared to the size of the character. games with this relative view window size tend to have similar issues; platforming is artificially difficult, enemies can appear on screen with little warning, just to name a few.

I'd potentially rather be a hot woman than what I am now, and I don't exactly have low self esteem on that front. Given the choice of downgrading my looks to a 1, which would be torture, vs becoming a hot woman it's a trivial choice. Hell I'd rather become an average looking woman than downgrading to a 1.

I didn't exercise this morning, although it wasn't on purpose. I was just in such a rush that I literally forgot and didn't realize it until way later in the day. I also forgot my phone and was dealing with fringe hurricane weather so I think I was just a mess overall today.

If your Bloodtinge is low use the repeating pistol and Max upgrade it. You'll get good enough damage to finish off bosses from safety.

Alternately use Hunter Pistol. Leaves more bullets available for parrying if you plan to use you gun for that.

Weekend is over and so I'm forced to get back into my routine, but man it was hard this morning. I stayed up too late last night which set off a pretty bad chain reaction. Rick and Morty was really good though so I guess it was worth it.

Anyway I overslept this morning while still not getting enough sleep. Despite being really groggy and pressed for time I forced myself to exercise anyway. I always feel better after exercising so it was definitely worth it. Just really difficult to get over that initial energy barrier and force myself into starting. I'm really glad I made this topic because having it motivates me to push myself harder on days when I'd normally flake.

yes, no shit. this is the EXACT REASON why I have argued in the past for why Hearthstone IS a skill based game. once again you are showing you do not understand the context of this conversation at all. the situation is that a RECENT CHANGE has increased the level of variance and decreased the level of skill required. if you don't play arena and you don't participate in any of these discussions where the balance of arena has been talked about over the course of the last several months than you just have no idea what you're talking about. you're just spouting empty platitudes about how all card games have variance. once again. yes, sometimes you will. this is fine. the problem is that the level of variance has increased to the point where around 40% of the games I played in the last 200 games that I played were decided entirely by deck quality. I was still continuing to play because I thought the deck variance issue was going to be addressed, but someone pointed out to me in the last topic that the issue was actually an intentional design decision on Blizzard's part and the result of a policy they enacted months ago.

Firstly, I don't have any issue with the comments you have made. My issue is specifically with the people who DO NOT play arena and are trying to argue the point with me. If you do play arena, then my comment about "people who don't even play arena" does not apply to you.

Secondly, this is not exactly true, the idea that you don't agree with me. It actually seems like we agree! We both agree that increasing the size of the draft pool would increase variance. The only difference is that you prefer higher variance while I prefer lower variance. I mean I could sit here and argue at length about why lower variance is better than higher variance, about how many expert arena players agree with this concept, bring up again how the HS Devs also seem to agree that a True Wild Arena is not sustainable, demonstrate and remind how Wild Arena creates a true Curvestone mode where the statistically best play is to never play around anything, etc. etc. but the truth is I really just do not care what other people's preferences are. It does not affect me in any way. If you think you would actually prefer a Wild Arena then fine, whatever, have fun with that. It's only when people tell me that I should be okay with a high variance mode that I'm going to defend my position, because I do not personally want to see a high variance mode.

The only thing it seems like we don't agree on is the idea that Arena Standard/Wild could both exist simultaneously. Yeah, I don't think that kind of thing is possible or at least sustainable. I've also argued why I don't think it's likely that Blizzard will create such a mode. All you had to say on the matter was that "you don't see why they couldn't do it." Other people also explained reasons why it might not be possible, might not be a good idea, or why blizzard simply wouldn't want to do it. I have never said you are not allowed to have that opinion. I didn't even respond to you further on that subject. All I did was give my reasoning for why creating two different modes would not be sustainable.
