| Minute 12/21/18 9:44:18 PM #1 | Open world sandbox game, think Dwarf Fortress + Mount & Blade in a Fallout: New Vegas setting. I have like 5 hours in game, so not much at all (you can imagine a game in development for that long is pretty deep). But I've got the first, oh, 5 minutes of the 'Wanderer' start down to an art. First, you start a bar fight in The Hub. Nobody cares if you loot the unconscious bodies, but don't fight them yourself; antagonize them then bolt like the chickenshit you are (you start as possibly the single weakest being on the map, without exaggeration). A drifter in the bar named Hobbs can be freely recruited if you do his dialogue options properly (just go along with what he's saying, its not hard). Me and ya boy Hobbs also got a pretty lady named Kiji to help us out. Together we scrounged enough material to set up outside The Hub, mining stone to make some building material with and sell for a healthy profit. We worked for about an in-game week, earned a few thousand 'cats' (the in-game currency, not actual cats). My idea was that soon I would buy a property in the Hub proper and sell and trade out of there. The Shek had a different idea. Who the fuck are the Shek? The Shek are some no-good, scum-sucking bony-faced alien assholes who hate all that is good and holy on this planet. They showed up with a raiding party of, oh, 10 dudes. Busted down our front door and proceded to knock Kiji to the ground. I tried putting up a fight but I was unarmed and fell too. Hobbs was the last one up, and the only one of us armed at that moment. The Shek showed him little mercy, chopped his leg off and looted us for every scrap that wasn't bolted to the ground. Eventually I gained consciousness, Kiji was stuck in a coma but I tended her injuries so she's stable. Hobbs bled out from his injuries. I picked Kiji's unconscious body up. She's coming with me. We're going to the Holy Nation and restart there from nothing. It's going to be hard, but one day we'll be strong enough to go out and avenge Hobbs. I ain't gonna let any Shek leave my sight alive. anyways that's kenshi so far --- |

| Minute 12/16/18 8:33:04 AM #36 | Was never super into them, mostly since a lot of their content is anime-focused and I don't like anime but the banter was always great, so I watched some of their more 'premiere' LPs like Dark Souls and Cage games. All that to say, it ain't the end of the world to be but it is still disappointing, however I gotta give them kudos for doing this with minimal drama. What I'll also say, though, is that it's sobering to see a channel with 750,000 subscribers coming to an end. Like, all these channels have to end at some point, right? They can't go on forever. Will people be watching 50-year-old LPers in 20 years? Probably some, I guess, but not all. I'm wondering if we're going to see more channel retirements in the future. --- |
