According to the appendix at the end of Lord of the Rings, Fili and Kili were in their 60s and 70s. That sounds old, but for dwarves they were still minors. Like "teenaged" dwarves

Yeah, SaGa Frontier 2 is miles above SaGa Frontier 1 in terms of presentation. I mean, the environments in SaGa frontier 1 were good (kind of FF7-esque, really). But the character sprites and battle graphics were pretty bad. SaGa Frontier 2 is an alround attractive game.

Beren not being important to the overarching plot? The hell. He is the only person who managed to recover a Silmaril and furthermore, due to his union with Luthien, his descendant saves the world. I'd say he's pretty important.

Do you think he was being serious when he basically said that to break the Silmarils and release their light would be to break his heart? Or was he being melodramatic

Feanor got off too easy IMHO. He goes and leads his people into exile, and then goes and dies practically the moment he steps onto Beleriand. He didn't have to experience the suffering his people had to.

NeoElfboy posted... Maedhros is the best character in that book, I dunno what you're talking about.
The only reason he's at the top of this list is because of the section where he is captured by Morgoth. Otherwise while he's not as big a douche as say, Celegorm or Curufin, he's still pretty douchey.
Beren, Tuor, Thingol are all better characters. Furthermore to suggest that Maedhros is better than Fingolfin, who is the best character in the book and one of the best in Tolkien's mythology is silly

I REALLY wanted to put Curufin last, but Amrod and Amras don't do anything. And apparently Amras was suppose to die MUCH sooner anyway but Christopher Tolkien dun screwed up.
Also, all of them are terrible and deserved all the pain they had to face

Graphically, this game is fantastic. It is like a picture book. Even today, it looks fantastic.
What the screenshots don't show you are neat little details like insects crawling up walls and stuff like that.
Also, this was I believe Masashi Hamauzu's first soundtrack and he sure does knock it out of the park. One of my favorite VG soundtracks.
The story itself is well down. Its a lot more linear than previous SaGas. The story is that of two young men, one is an archeologist-type fellow trying to follow in his father's footsteps while trying to find the mystery of his parent's death. The other is a story of an exiled prince. The stories are intertwined with each other and follows the lives of these two as they grow up and become successful and powerful, kind of like Dragon Quest V.
The gameplay is pretty neat, though I strongly recommend using an FAQ because learning techniques is a bit more complex than other JRPGs.
