I like the irony in Peridiam's video 3 weeks ago while discussing James being voted out with 2 idols he said "not just unprecedented, but also statistically likely to never happen again".

I'm very good at unintentionally calling things before they happen.

I'll never live down that I said "I swear, everything can be fixed with a fire-making challenge" weeks before the finale of HHH.

I'm a little confused as to why GameFreak felt the need to lie for months about not re-using the models and animations.

It's like a kid who will inevitably get caught by the parents, but until then just keeps up the lie and rides it out because they don't know any better.

Very strange behavior.

Mind you I dont think Jamal was wrong for assuming a womens alliance was possiblebecause it was. Just that it brought on some compelling discussion from the women that was very relevant, and I found it amusing how last week Jamal was talking to Jack about his durag comment, only to have the table turned (and Jack get voted out against Jamals wishes).

The barrage was understandable imo. And Jack wasnt very gripping in the end.

Not sure about this jury (do Rob & Sandra vote?) but I dont think it hurts the episode.

Overall I liked this episode tonight.

Please forgive my ignorance, but what's the drift issue? I haven't used my Switch enough to have noticed anything.

Its when you leave the joysticks at a neutral position and they default move to the right or the left.

You stand still in a game and through no input on your end the character begins to move in one direction.

Its happened to one of my joycons its really unfortunate.

Yeah, the most recent championship for the region before the Caps won was the 1991 Redskins and I was only two years old then so I never really experienced that.

Baltimore doesnt count as the region?

Even though Baltimore is really close, the Skins are the team everyone roots for in DC. I very rarely encountered Ravens fans. Orioles pull more support in DC than Ravens because theyve been around a lot longer and were the DC MLB team for a while. I root for both teams equally, though Im more of a Skins fan than a Ravens fan (though I also root for the Ravens).

Its a bit weird. If the Os were to win, Id consider that a win for DC. Not the same for the Ravens.

I currently live in Annapolis and wayyyy more Ravens fans. Half my family are Ravens fans. Being here has definitely increased my support for the team.

Just incredible.

and the Mystics!

Don't follow them (or the NBA). Also technically I saw the United win like 20 years ago but lolMLS.

Now if the Skins could ever get a winning record, let alone not lose to the Seahawks in the post-season, I'd say I'm in the best timeline.

Im very much looking forward to the TV adaptation of Fire & Blood. The stories told in that first chronicle are really enjoyable and should translate well to a show. Its not as detail-oriented as ASOIAF and I cant imagine much would/could get left out. If anything itd only expand upon certain moments.

Dance of the Dragons would be incredible. Im already wanting to reread that portion just thinking about it.

Kat was pretty good on the episodes, but not nearly as good on the feeds. Too much of an enabler of Six Shooters, tried way too hard to be loved, was undeservedly mean to Kemi and Nicole, and even spun the truth upon her post-eviction talk with Julie just to look good in the eyes of America. Just way too focused on her status.

Otherwise I love that Top 10!

I'm just saying that it's not so clear-cut as "the fans HATED Michie and Holly and LOVED Nicole, so the producers NEVER would've rigged the game for Michie". I don't think the producers truly give a shit about what the fans do or do not like. They want what THEY like, from a TV production standpoint, and I can see Michie being what they like from a television standpoint.

Well, obviously he fits the bill for an easy rig. Hence why so many fans think they did.

I think the producers hate the racism accusations more than anything, and want to avoid that / make a stance more than support his win. Im sure theyd have loved Nicole winning given how the finale was structured with so much emphasis being put on the pre-jury over the jurors.

Maybe Im optimistic but I think therell be some changes made for BB22.

The more I read about behind the scenes of this season the more I feel that the way last night played out was Chen's doing. Apparently Michie was caught by live feed viewers eating snacks during his Have Not week, and instead of reprimanding him, they just got rid of the Have Nots for the rest of the summer. He was clearly the producer pick to win, and last night Chen probably went "fine, you get your winner, but we're gonna clear some things up first and we're gonna do it before the votes are read." Notice how she kinda snidely said to Michie "You don't look happy. You got your confetti!" or whatever after.

Sam told RHAP they removed the Have Nots due to health issues. It was causing severe constipation (and bleeding) after the slop was fried. Kinda weird, not sure what to make of it.

I dont think the main producers wanted him to win. Julie doesnt ask that last question to their pet when hes about to get crowned.

A lot of people have been on this the season was rigged for Jackson train and I dont buy it.

Yeah, Inviso, I know. You enjoy a rig as long as it's entertaining. I prefer no rig at all, as it undermines the entertainment, the core value of the entire show. Different values there. I mean, I still loved the Jeff DE, it was fair and square, but the before and after was tough to swallow.

I just can't see myself being on board for riggage, lapping up spoiled milk the producers believe is good for us and the show. Similar to your take on Probst, my take is that Grodner gets in her own way and doesn't care, or even believe it. And it's hurt the value of the show over the years. There's not enough time in the world to settle for (what I believe to be) less. But I still love what the show was, and there's still numerous traces of it now... But overall, I just want to put the milk back in the fridge where it used to be.

It also helps that I went into BB13 absolutely hating Rachel. She was my least favorite from BB12, and that was only a year prior. Yet in the context of the BB13 house, she was just FUN and entertaining. She is the ONLY returnee in any franchise where I went from outright hatred in their first season, to love in the second.

When you plant of a bunch of spineless newbies amidst a cast of comp-beast vets (sans Jordan), go figure she rises to the top when she repeats the same terrible strategy from BB12. Doesn't help that the edit heavily favored the vets either - the producers wanted you to love her.

This is part of what makes BB so unique as a show. There are numerous way to watch and appreciate (or not) what it brings to the table. BB13 was not fun to watch on the live feeds, which to me is largely Big Brother. The episodes weren't so great either at the time. But I imagine if I were to rewatch BB13 today, I'd probably appreciate it a little more now that I can binge it.

BB13 was bad because of the rigging, which began on Day 1 and continued potentially until finale night, or at the very least until the F6.

It's bizarre to me that you think they didn't want Rachel to win. Rachel may have been #4 or #5 on the producers list of who they wanted to win (after Dick, though that was only but a few days in), but they hedged their bets right out of the gate to ensure any of them would be in a prime position. It's the same issue I have with BB14.

For me, when you remove the stakes, you remove the sense of drama. You remove the vital ingredient that makes the show so compelling. I don't find much of a point in watching a game if there's no game to be had. I may as well switch to Real Housewives or The Bachelor. The first half of BB13 is some of the worst BB out there, a total steamroll with the producers pets. I'm not clueless enough to believe the vets were in any sense of trouble. It was terrible TV and a bad season because of how forced the setup and twists were, how low the stakes were, how poor the gameplay was (largely thanks to the twists), and how the outcome was entirely pre-ordained from the start.

It was the producers wet dream to have Rachel win, especially over Porsche, who I would argue is the #1 most screwed over player from the edit in all of Big Brother. That girl was left out in the dark all season and nobody cared, least of all when she was 1 vote shy of ruining what the producers had wished for after contorting the show.

I perhaps have a similar take on the BB producers that you do for the Survivor producers. I find it really difficult to watch when the BB producers tip the scales so far in one direction. It creates a sense of hollowness in me and mars my experience. At surface level it's exciting to see the power swing at the midway point in BB13, but it's SO unearned after the pre-jury and the setup for the vets to succeed. Compare it to BB21 right at the end of pre-jury, with the Day 44 explosion. So earned and SO satisfying. One of the best BB moments in a long while, unlike when Kalia evicted Lawon in BB13 because she feared a twist, or Brendon returned at this point in BB13 thanks to a terrible implementation of a 'battle back', or when Rachel was gifted Pandora's Box, screwing over the most compelling player of the season in Shelly.

I know you don't care so much about the integrity of the game, but to me that's the 'boring' bit. BB16 is SUPER boring because it's a steamroll, but at least it was fair play. BB13 was 50% a steamroll by the producers pets (ala Derrick & Frankie), then a bunch of bullshit back-to-back, with a wholly unearned winner by the end. No bueno.

And I mean that Cambodia has infected Survivor with a heavy dose of a new direction for the show, with it being verrrry much about strategy 24/7. Because a lot of fans loved that direction, as did the producers, and so they went that way moving forward (after Kaoh Rong, of course).

BB13 is the same take. Just look at BB14. Look at 16. 18. OTT. 19.

Starting with BB8, the show began to get in its own way of being great. BB8 dipped its toe in the waters to see what they could pull off with an all-encompassing twist to reward the fan favorites, to create contrived narratives and gameplay for the sake of giving the audience 'what they want' (and the producers what they want, strong ratings).

BB13 was when the producers went all-in. It's Micronesia but with endless twists to favor the vets, to give the fans 'what they want' in spite of anything else happening in the house. The producers trivialized the show. Even the edit in BB13 was pretty bad, heavily tilted toward the vets, something most don't consider when discussing BB (except BBCAN6). They continued with BB14 and have never looked back.

I'll never forget how disappointed I was with BB13.

Clearly you have conflicting priorities, Inviso, if you want the Survivor producers to get wrecked for their take on the game but have no problem championing BB13, one of the most blatant and heavy-handed BB seasons where Rachel Reilly (and all the other vets) were thrown numerous bones all season.

They wanted the vets to last to jury, they wanted Brendon back in the house with the absurd battle back 'America's Vote', they wanted Rachel & Jordan in the F2 thanks to a timely Pandora's Box, and yeah, I know they probably wanted Jeff to win, but they were more than happy to settle for Rachel.

I know you don't think nearly as critically about BB as you do Survivor, but BB13 is similar to the Cambodia of modern Big Brother. It's the first season where production was absolutely shameless in their endeavor to produce a certain outcome. BB8 began the snowfall while BB13 was the avalanche.

Nicole winning would be fantastic. I want that narrative so bad. Perfect ending compared to the monstrous train we started with through the first few weeks, culminating in Unde9able stomping and clapping in a pitiful hate orgy in the HOH room.

Any other outcome would be less-than-amusing. Jacksons set himself up well but his martyr approach is disappointing. He doesnt want to own his game, and theres a slight chance itll cost him.

As an avid live feed watcher, everything from jury on has been pretty great. Last season it was dead once Brett won the veto to send Scottie home the first time. That was a lot of season to fall asleep to in that regard.

This season has been popping off literally every week and mostly in a good way. Its a shame Jackson won the F4 veto but it happens. BBCAN6 can attest to a very similar endgame (with a good ending).

Im just hoping Nicole can win at least Part 1 or 2 of this final HOH. Otherwise its a bit of a snooze going into the finale.

There was also Jillian and Emmett in BBCan1

Also Drew/Diane and Boogie/Erika.

Pretty sure the latter wasn't a "real" showmance, just Boogie playing the hell out of her (though neither of them seems to be a very good person). The former... I don't remember how close they were.

But yeah looks like I was wrong whoops.

There's no exact definition to what a showmance is (although Will did coin it), but I would say merely being involved romantically, whether real or not, means it's a showmance. Erika was committed to it and Boogie was somewhat invested too, even if he always would pick Will over her.
