That's exactly what they did though? They didn't create a new law with this ruling at all; they interpreted an existing one (the Civil Rights Act of 1964). Just like how Loving v. Virginia interpreted the 14th Amendment to legally determine that laws banning interracial marriage unconstitutional.

It's a part of it, yeah. For context, this league as a whole was founded in 1978. It hosts multiple sports events throughout the year, and has built a community purely around having fun and socializing.

I've played in multiple sports leagues over the last 8 years. Hell, the LGBTQ+ league I play in is a women's football league (they also offer a co-ed league). I personally joined because I met a friend on the team, the other teammates seemed fun, and I wanted to play. At one point I was playing on this team while playing co-ed with some school friends. There's no "point" to be made.

The sports league was created to give people a community for people who wanted to play but maybe didn't feel comfortable joining other leagues in the city. I think it's probably more important for trans men and women, and for non-binary players, who may not have been accepted to play on a men's only/women's only league depending on their ruleset (even if were even specified how to address it). We've had players who transition on our team and it's never been an issue.

There is a boundary between advocating for LGBTQ+ issues via political action, community organizing, etc. and just....wanting to hang out with other LGBTQ+ people for fun. The latter isn't political.

Older black voters are more conservative-leaning than young black voters. In general, older registered voters are more likely to actually vote compared to young registered voters. Also, being the VP to the first black president resonates for people; they'll connect Biden back to Obama's leadership.
