Once the final 16 characters are determined on Tuesday, we'll open up user image submissions. You'll be able to submit both foreground and background images for each character, 240 x 120 pixels.

A foreground image should focus solely on the character, with the middle third potentially centered (on narrow mobile devices), be a PNG with a transparent background (as the current images are), submitted facing to the right, and reversible depending on which side of the bracket they'll be facing. There's not a lot of room for creativity here, and we already have default images set up and ready to go, but alternates are more than welcome. You can find the default images in the /images/x/char2/ folder here on the site (https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/images/x/char2/97.png

A background image should be a bit muted (as the character will be in the foreground), but can represent the character and their game(s) as creatively as you want. We suggest overlaying the default foreground images on top to make sure that they'll look good when they're put together.

Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition (gotta finish my guide..), Dead Cells, Hollow Knight, looking to pick up Dragon Quest XI sometime soon. Trying not to commit to too much right now since the next few months look like I'll be picking up several new games to play. Outside of consoles I do a lot of board gaming. I started picking up Arkham Horror the Card Game recently and been playing a lot of Spirit Island. Also, I always casually play Summoners War on my phone as my wife got me started on it a couple years ago. I managed to spread that virus to @Zoopsoul too though haven't gotten Devin into it yet despite my best efforts.

"KoS" is an antiquated concept. We only have a few routine troublemakers that are just handled on an as-is needed basis. Also if you guys still believe that Hoth is making all of the alts, I have a bridge that I'd like to sell you.

Are there any talks at all about an official GameFAQs mobile app?

There are always talks about an official GameFAQs app. The problem and the reason there still isn't one is that we can't justify the time and money expenses it would take to create and maintain one as of now. Last time I asked, most users expected a free app with no ads or IAPs, so you can see why that maybe isn't worth our time/money.

Why is one user allowed to make countless alts

Because it's impossible to stop them. We can slow them down (and we do) but at the end of the day if someone wants to make a bunch of alts, they are going to make a bunch of alts. If we for example block all usernames from ending in "462", then they'll just pick something else. At least when we allow them to keep their patterns it makes banning all of their new accounts a lot quicker and easier. But like I said before, I really don't have much feeling towards people like this other than sympathy that they don't have anything better to do with their time/life.

I always read the post that gets an account suspended. The only difference with a new account vs an older one is that a ban is more likely to be the result since putting a new account into purgatory is relatively pointless.

Dang, so you actually have the ability to code or write script or design websites and whatnot? I don't see myself learning any of that.

It helps but it's not at all required. Just having a basic understanding of coding is good enough, mostly so you know what can and can't be done and aren't designing impossible/impractical products.

What would a typical working day at GameFAQs be like (e.g. What time you first get to work, when you check and upload the content, when you work on new features for the site & boards, etc.)?

I follow absolutely no schedule. When I first sit down I try to see what's urgent for the day and then start there. I'm pretty much always designing new features and have a pretty big backlog of potential projects.

Is Octopath decent?

I enjoyed what I played of it so far. I played through the first chapter for everyone, unlocked the basic subjobs, and started on chapter two before life got busy. Once I put it down, it's been hard to try to convince myself to pick it back up again just because I know I have so much more left to do and my chapter two experiences so far haven't varied much from the first chapter.

What are your thoughts on the Nintendo Switch? Is it a good console with a bright future?

Of all of the modern consoles, it's the one getting the most playtime in our household by far right now. The portability is the key factor here, since we can play on the Switch while still sitting with the kids or doing something with them, plus they really like most of the Nintendo characters (my 5 year old son is going through a Pokemon phase as we speak) so they like to watch or play as well.

I also appreciate all of the indie love it's getting (though other consoles are as well of course) and currently try to make time every day for a Dead Cells run.

It's something we're considering. It would likely be optional if added since a lot of folks just want the simplicity of pasting in a link and it working. How do you feel about the 10,000 alts person on the Switch board?

I honestly feel sorry for this person in that they don't have anything more interesting to do with their life than spam a message board for hours at a time just to try to annoy people. I can understand actively participating with and having fun posting on one, but to go through the registration process so many times just to suicide accounts? "Sad" is really the only word that pops into my head. I don't know if they think they are causing me a big headache or something but I literally just highlight all their suspended accounts and ban them in a single button click so it's like 5 seconds of my time a couple times a week.

Which game brought you to GameFAQs in the first place? I remember coming here in 1997 for FFVII guides.

I... don't remember. It might've been FFVII, honestly. I was just intrigued by the idea of people spending hours of their free time creating these guides just to help people with no real expectation of a physical reward. It's one of the main reasons that over the years I've fought to get bigger and better monetary compensation for people who create these guides. I've probably spend upwards of 500 hours working on the Hyrule Warriors unlockable guide and I'm still not even done yet and I haven't made a penny off of it. I know for more complicated games it takes even longer. That's a lot of free time people give up just to help others, and I love to be able to give them a little something for their time.

I kinda stumbled into the position. I went to college for computer science not originally intending to be a product manager (this is the technical term you're looking for). I happened to be graduating at the right time and knew CJayC well enough to where when he was looking for help running the site after it was purchased by CNET Networks and he had hiring power, he approached me privately. Obviously that's not likely to happen for anyone else. Most likely you're going to want to get a degree in business and/or something related to the field (CS is probably fine for becoming a PM for a website). As for pay, Google can probably answer that for you. It's a competitive job and might be hard to land right out of the gate, so you'd probably need to move your way up the corporate ladder.

Probably never. We put someone in charge of social media for a while but saw literally zero return on investment to the time/money spent, so we just stopped. I suppose we could research some kind of automated posting engine, at least on Twitter, but it's not really likely to happen anytime soon.

Where? The site sees plenty of people, moreso now than ever. The problem is that in the "just Google it" day and age, people who land here only come for one thing and then leave. We provide that one thing (usually a guide, message board post, Q&A answer, etc) and then they go back and play their game. The boards still do well due to their size and popularity, but wooing these one and done folks to stay is much more difficult than it used to be when people invested more time into their web browsing. So I guess the tl;dr there is that if you know the magic formula to get more users active on a message board or forum, you could probably be pretty rich. We do better than most, though!

What has been the most rewarding thing (besides the money) about running this site?

I started running the site full time in 2007. Think back to this site in 2007. The quote feature I'm using for these responses didn't exist. Hell, you couldn't even edit a post. I think the most rewarding thing was taking a site that I used as a "fan" for nearly ten years and in that same timeframe making it into something much more user-friendly and modern. I don't know what my legacy is going to be when I retire (or die or get fired or whatever) but I can look back and be pretty damn proud of myself, and my opinion is the most important one to me.

Which gaming generation was your favorite?

It's hard to choose. I don't think any gaming generation was explicitly bad so I enjoyed all of them. I think a lot of my enjoyment has to do with personal memories and how many of them are attached to gaming. The Nintendo/Sega dominated eras (NES then SNES/Genesis) have a lot of meaning to me since they started me on my path of lifetime gaming. The PS2/DC/GC/GBA era is another sweet spot in terms of gaming being tied to important things for me. So yeah, I guess those.

Who do you think does more work these days, you or Devin?

On the site code itself, Devin by far (as in he pretty much does all of it). I mostly handle administrative duties (boards, submitted content, designing and speccing out future projects) as well as represent the site in all places within the company wherein we need to be represented, meaning a lot of me time is spent sitting in meetings arguing with people about things and/or being bored. So I suppose the answer depends on what you consider to be "work".

I don't understand this sentence. If you're asking whether I have a problem with people being upset that they can't insult each other then no, I don't.
