It's still weird he was cast as Batman. It's like every time producers hear, "This is the weirdest Batman casting," they're all like, "Hold my beer."

Val Kilmer is absolutely a weirder casting for Batman than Pattinson. Even Clooney is kind of more "this guy is insanely popular we'd be crazy not to put him in the suit" rather than being a good Batman.

In many Gundam canons the limitation is that they require some level of New Type-ness from the pilot to be exceptional. The RX-78 line also often runs out of ammo and/or energy in the series; particularly for the beam rifle.

In 0079 the Gundam project doesn't seem to be particularly expensive or anything. It seems a lot more like a last ditch effort to get ahead of Zeon since the Earth Federation doesn't have time to catch up to Zeon's number of mobile suits in a conventional way. The EF is stuck with a bunch of mobile ball's and guncannons and shit until late in the series when the GMs start to hold ground against the worn down number of Zakus.

As for actual scientific weaknesses of mobile suit/Gundam design, yeah there's plenty of places to go after a Google search. It's kinda lame that they make no sense as real world weapons.

I like James Mangold enough to have some interest in his upcoming project, even if it is Star Wars.

Not sure what you're talking about. Anyone from outside of North America always thought tipping was incredibly stupid. Americans and Canadians have more recently become loudly irritated that tipping is a bullshit wage subsidy that the service industry has foisted on customers but normal people still realize that its unfair to hurt workers by not tipping at all.

Purely by suit designs then I guess its more defensible. I still don't love ZZ in that respect either though.

I believe Moon Moon is the usual example of why ZZ is god awful but I also hate every single character in that stupid show too. Judeau's idiot friends that are like "Cleaning this military ship sucks. Lets let the enemy soldiers know where we are so everyone dies and we can go home! :)" made me want to pull my hair out. I ended up watching the show at like 2.5x speed so I could get through it all.

Its a metaphor for how bad Zeta and ZZ are. Worthless trash series' the pair of them.

There's nothing wrong with disliking Breath of the Wild but the nonsense reason he invented for why its objectively bad and that Nintendo is mindlessly chasing "such a small demographic" is either ace brain worms internet jabbering or the mark of someone that has truly mastered the style of terminal brain worm infection.

People are usually right to either outright disbelieve games sales numbers or point out how unreliable they are but BotW numbers are so huge and consistent that it would take willful ignorance to not know it is by far the best selling Zelda game.

I don't think it's so much that Legacy tells a story that's more appealing than other Harry Potter EU stuff so much as it is that the fandom has had a long-standing desire to play an open-world RPG set in the HP universe. The notion of dicking around freely with spells and brooms and quidditch is something that appeals to a lot of people, and Legacy is the first time that's really come to fruition. It's similar to why Pokemon Go was so explosively successful: People like the idea of going on their own adventure to catch Pokemon, and Go provided exactly that.

To that end, I don't know that a TV show has much potential to cash in on the game's success. A TV show would be simply a matter of telling another story from the universe's history, not unlike what Fantastic Beasts did. That's something that's going to have to succeed on its own merits, rather than being able to coast on a fundamental idea that people really like.

I mean, I did say that I had no idea if the story itself was particularly special. More just that its clearly not a soulless slog like those aimless Fantastic Beasts movies were/are. Even the original Harry Potter books are easy to massacre in a Cinema Sins "Did you realize that Harry only casts 16 spells across the whole series but somehow everyone still thinks he's a great wizard? DING!" sort of way but there's a core appeal to the idea the whole thing that can be turned into good media by people that care.

I was so bummed when I watched the trailer for TotK. It looks like BotW 2. I feel like the only people who liked BotW were under the age of 20 when it released and didn't actually play any older Zelda titles. I don't know why Nintendo is pandering to such a small demographic.

Well, it is illegal for Nintendo to say how many copies the game sold so we'll never know how well it did. But the fact that nobody talks about BotW or compares any more recent games to it tells you all you need to know about the impact it had. They should give the license back to Phillips so they can really get the franchise back on track instead of wasting everyone's time.

After having finally got around to beating FF9 recently I don't understand why its fans are so ardent. I think the game is mostly appropriately rated in general (a solid, somewhat narratively uneven, late-console entry in a genre that was on the decline) but fans that insist it is criminally underrated are...not correct.

I also liked the TV show but apparently I would've been 9-10 if I were watching it when it was new so maybe that's not saying much for its quality.

Apparently the game sold 12 million copies and made about $850 million since launch. In another week or two it'll eclipse the total earnings of the last two Fantastic Beasts movies. No idea if a TV show based on this game would be any good but clearly the market for Harry Potter stuff that isn't directionless soulless garbage is still huge.

Its less boring and forgettable than Ant Man 2 but its a very bad movie.

Johnathan Majors is a pretty good actor but if I hadn't had the gist of Loki and the comic iterations of the character explained to me I would say Quantumania by itself makes Kang look like kind of a jumped up punkass. Modok is so bizarre. I guess the effect itself looks technically fine but I have no idea how the 50,000 people that work on every Marvel movie finished the product with him looking that stupid and thought "yes, this will please audiences."

I had my time beating the "Toriyama can only draw like 5 characters, lol" drum but after finally going back and reading the Dragon Ball manga I developed a much bigger appreciation for his art. He is a bit limited in the variety of his humans but over the whole course of the series he did make a lot of iconic one-off guys and although the anime turned his backgrounds into a running joke the detail on the rocky wastes is truly impressive.

I don't think there's anything special at all about RDR 2 that would make it deserve a spot on any "best of" list that goes beyond a single console/year. Even Witcher 3, as good as it is, probably wouldn't crack the top 50 on a serious all-time list that wasn't rife with recency bias. The rest are all obviously massively influential games that are not coincidentally also at least a decade old.

Surely you remember how much people complained about Diablo 3 when that game launched. And that was arguably when Blizzard was still good at making games. Even if I were a fan of modern Blizzard I would not have unwavering faith in their ability to make Diablo 4 good at launch at the very least.

Avatar is an absolute masterpiece of visual cinematic achievement. The story and storytelling are embarrassingly dated (Save the whales! Colonialism is bad! The natives can teach us things too!) and Cameron has always been bad at those. But his talent is obviously visual cinema and he's elite at that. Kojima is a pretty good storyteller and his visual design is also good but I don't feel like he's truly legendary.

I would like to know how awful the third one would have been. The first one already doesn't hold up that well compared to how much people praised it but the second one is incredibly bad. Every time it's on tv here I always catch it at the part where the (secondary?) villain is just randomly kicking the shit out of a dude on the street because he said she was hot.

I finally played IX to completion relatively recently and I don't understand why people love it. It's good but the side-quests are basically all boring garbage. Tetra Master suuuuucks. Getting characters' ultimate equipment is unsatisfying and boring. Learning skills from equipment is kind of fun in a mindless grind sort of way but the way some stuff is metered by the Stealing mechanic is braindead. "Oh you need this really cool item that exists in this boss fight and then at the very end of the game 15 hours from now? Roll the dice for your 1/256 chance fucker, lolololol"...like, why?

Kiwami is an HD remake of 1. 0 is a prequel. Like a Dragon is the start of the new series that was supposed to move past the original main character but seems like they're already kinda backing away from sidelining Kiryu or something.
