I've had an account for 11 years apparently (now that Facebook bothers you with every anniversary like anyone gives a shit) and its been mostly inactive for the last two or three years. I use the messenger service for work groups and overseas friends/family and I post my travel photos for said overseas friends and family.

If I were an 18 year-old now I probably wouldn't see the point of it. The only reason I would miss it if it were gone is because I don't live close to my parents or a lot of my friends. The opposite is true for most kids and there are better apps for showing off photos and chatting to people you barely know like instagram and Snapchat.

Dude, it's not a reference when you just literally quote the lines with no alterations and at no point give any context by which people would know it's a reference to something. That's the definition of plagiarism and I learned that when I was like 10 years old.

Well, for this site in particular it was the first thing to win Best Game Ever outside of FFVII or Ocarina of Time so that's a thing. When it came out it was getting praised in the highest terms possible from a lot of places.

Eventually I played it and while it was definitely really solid I was hugely let down from expectations. Everyone talked up how cool it was you could do a pacifist run and when I played I realized that was the default option. Killing anything makes you an asshole in that game. The dating system is actually required for the real ending so it's not like there's any particular choice about who you would date. It's just a lot more guided and shallow than people were acting like it was. It deserves credit for being a mirror version of the standard RPG offering but it's a mirror version of a totally bog standard RPG.

I don't think lack of sex and terrible ideas about the cause/solution to that defines your politics. This seems like a textbook example of "x group is bad so they must also be y group which is bad because they're both bad".

I went to Shanghai a while ago and it was pretty meh. I had sex in a karaoke room which was a nice night. I also got robbed at knife point which was not a nice night. If you go to Korea or Japan before you go to China then nothing about mainland cities will impress you.

Hong Kong is great though. I'd recommend going as soon as possible before China ruins it completely.

Porn wouldn't get restricted. It's become to mainstream to do something that would be seen as puritanical about it. It's distinctly possible that the free Tube sites would get throttled though.

I have memories of playing Sonic 3 at a friends' house and enjoying it a lot but I was a kid. I look back at Sonic games now and they just seem like shit. They're incredibly clunky to platform in and the element of extreme speed works badly because of that. Green Hill Zone is cool because you can just shoot through it but that's not an entire game.

I still greatly enjoy old Mario games and I personally love the Donkey Kong Country series. The Sonic games are just...crap.

If I were being charged with something I would hire a lawyer and shut the fuck up until the case was over. If it was just to destroy my character I'd likely either say "that never happened" or "at the time I received every indication it was consensual".

I don't think the US government would have any trouble either expropriating the land or just building around it.

It's a harder call because it's up to the player. Injustice is decently balanced (some characters are obviously better than others but it's not a horribly stale roster) and Marvel is very new but apparently quite solid and fun. Some people just cannot stand NRS games and other people think Marvel is just pseudo-anime bullshit. If I had to make a call I think MvC has more inertia behind it. Even people who don't play fighting games might at least know some "It's Mahvel baby!" memes while the most popular Injustice meme is that Aquaman is braindead spam.

I think there's a difference between literal and technical use of the term "incel". Like, most high school boys are involuntarily celibate because they're just entering the age where sex is an explicit desire but have very few reliable ways to entice girls. It's just the natural state of things. I was pretty frustrated about my helplessness in that regard during my high school years.

Then there's the people that never figure it out and just kinda go through life as herbivores. Usually nice enough people but put out a kind of scent that lets you know something is kinda weird about them. I worked with one and he was a totally nice dude but had a bit of a "Golly gee! I can't wait for the next Marvel movie so I can make up a new fan theory for my forum to ponder!" vibe.

Who and what sites are you talking about? Not that I ever had a huge pool of websites I drew gaming news/editorial from but I used to go to Destructoid and then Polygon and I've always liked GiantBomb (mostly for Jeff and the GiantBombcast specifically). People constantly rail on Polygon and Kotaku for being SJW, Anthony Burch and Jim Sterling (they were the big names when I was following Destructoid) are both extremely leftist and always have been and GiantBomb is largely apolitical but mostly in line with liberal positions when politics comes up directly. I consider Waypoint to be a GiantBomb offshoot and now that they've fully found their political voice I can barely tolerate listening to their podcast and am not sure why I still do other than from habit and desire for content.

Ian Miles Chong is the only right-wing games personality I can name and I've never read anything he's done other than some screengrabbed tweets. Milo doesn't count since he just goes wherever he can cause a ruckus. He would honestly write about knitting if he thought he could cause a huge shitstorm doing it.

I personally thought so. Pretty much everything about Karl Urban's character made me cringe. Surtr wasn't very funny and his whole thing was playing for laughs. I definitely don't want Marvel to be more like the DC movies and just be humourless slogs but now that the MCU has built up enough material to have its own internal memes I'm starting to feel alienated by them.

According to everything I've read about Halloween this year you don't have to do anything. Trick-or-treating seems to be basically dead.

Purely from box office totals Marvel is bigger than Star Wars. Actually making movies is one of the least efficient ways of making money off a movie franchise. Action figures, LEGO sets, trading cards, phone cases, and countless other random trash are where you make money and that's where Star Wars has been killing it for decades.

What allowed Pokemon to do so well is that it is absurdly popular in Asia. Star Wars is quite popular in Japan but I don't think it has much truck anywhere else. I don't know anyone over 12 years old in Korea that cares at all about the franchise and even amongst children Marvel and Pokemon are a lot more popular.

I can't say I feel meaningfully different from that stance. The ones like "Brett Ratner basically forced his way into my hotel room and jacked off in front of me" are obviously completely fucked up but some of these stories are literally "George Bush, the 93 year old man, said a dirty joke to me and I felt uncomfortable #metoo".

You can find quotes from Socrates talking about how the world was going to shit back in Ancient Greece and that books were making kids lazy anti-social ingrates with no social skills or work ethic. Everyone always thinks the world is doing badly and getting permanently worse than the recent past. Culture isn't an inexorable march forward but especially for the past 200ish years things have steadily been getting better even accounting for some nasty blips.

I want to have at least two kids and I know they'll be born into a world where they're almost guaranteed to avoid violent death and nearly all physical hardship. Not sure what the job market or civil society will look like but those are always changing a lot.
