Live A Live looks like one of the first games to use that beautiful look that will actually be a decent game.Live A Live is not very good. It's interesting but spreading out its ideas over so many story-lines made them all wind up being shallow and underdeveloped. The writing in particular is quite weak. I know SquareSoft never really churned out genius scripts but at least with a long focused RPG you'd build up some momentum and grandeur. Live A Live does not manage that despite trying to run a thread through all the stories. Also, the demo for Triangle Strategy was decent but it being from the Octopath team leads me to give it very little benefit of the doubt. I don't understand how that game is generally held in a positive light when outside of the graphics and sound design it's a sub-mediocre RPG Maker campaign a student could have made in 1997. |

| SomeUsername529 01/11/22 6:31:38 AM #9 | Monster Hunter has basically two tracks on mainline games: the more mechanically dense "mainline" games that improve/change incrementally and the more simple "gimmick" games that usually work sort of like testing grounds for new ideas that may or may not pan out. World is in the first camp and Rise is in the latter. Presumably after another year or two the next step in the World branch will come out. I don't think either branch is necessarily better but there's more feature continuity in the "mainline" games as the "gimmick" games focus a bit more on their specific thing being different. Generally the "gimmick" games are easier to pick up and they clear up some of the obtuseness of the series in general so the others are easier to play in the future. |

It was also not waterproof either. It was also incredibly uncomfortable and poorly lit because the guy stuck with a 100% lego brick build but if you cheated a bit you could solve most of those problems, I guess. |

Taiwan maintains legacy claims to disputed islands and such so that China doesn't attempt to assert active control of them because they're "ungoverned". |

Other than that, I'm a big fan of a lot of the original Gundam stuff. RX-78-2, Zaku II, Gouf...even the Guncannons and GMs are pretty appealing to me. The Eva mechs are all iconic as well but I don't like their designs in the same way I like the old Gundam stuff. The purple, green, orange of Eva-001 is really cool but it would feel sort of weird having a model of it chilling in my computer room. |

The jokes are flat. The characterization is bad. The characters are all immortal gods and humans are a total afterthought. Everything important is just explained at length through long boring dialogue rather than shown. I laughed exactly three times in the whole movie: the man getting eaten 5 minutes in, a "domo arigato" joke I made to my wife, and when one of the Eternals gets hit in the head with a rock. Nothing any character said at any point made me even chuckle slightly. I considered walking out a little more than an hour in but just slogged it out because I was tired. Eternals is absolutely a bad movie. I could imagine some people out there finding something of value in watching it but it's telling that most of the "Fresh" reviews on Rotten Tomatoes start off with "It's not great but it's not as bad as everyone is saying. Come onnn" |
