Because we have at various times stumbled upon yet another way to do it should we want to spend the money to actually come up with it. At this point making everyone have some level of "death only happens through non-aging means" is kind of inevitable if you ignore global warming. There are only so many ways that fundamentalist Christians can overthrow citing "Don't play god!" before one finally slips through the cracks. Inversely shoving stuff into someone's brain is largely on a per-person basis and giving someone the actually desired information is a whole lot more complicated than it seems. Subluminals are certainly a thing that could somewhat qualify for what they're talking about and are actually reasonably feasible in current technology, but I am mostly just going off of the Matrix-style affair that they cite: something that is just as reasonable as any other pseudo-nonsense that comes out of Science Fantasy stuffs.

So one is just DNA tampering and the other is neuron/cellular surgery through a jack. Alright, I'll buy that.

If you think it through, that's part of the point I was making.
The idea was flawed from the inception and they didn't try/try hard enough to make it a sensible remake and followup to an esteemed rpg. Even with examples of how they could've.

The late 2000s to today really seems to blend together culturally. Unlike in the 20th century when different decades were quite different culturally

It's hard to see as it's happening, but 2000s to 2010, and 2010s to 2020s look very different from each other in terms of fashion, slang, technology, and knowledge across religion and science.

A lot of people here seem comfortable with stagnancy.
If it's rare but not impossible for an RPG to carry over data between separate physical parts, then that means SE didn't do everything they could for the FFR experience to be seamless.
"The original still exists, go play it" parrots and apologists for poor quality look braindead in comparison to people wishing there was a tight game to play.
FFR is just shiny and lousy.

This sounds like an expensive spectacle, but could end up being a huge hit if televised.
