omg...I just got a 36/100 on my test. Ouuuuch.

I get two more attempts, but I got SO MANY wrong, and a few of them I just guessed, and three I left blank with no clue how to solve them; I'll post some of them in a bit.

It is, but I'm starting from the bottom of the barrel and PEMDAS hasn't been covered yet.

For a bit of background on my education: I was homeschooled by my aunt and grandmother, and they were both terrible at math and eventually kind of gave up on it.

multiply the denominators together.

For example:

3/4 compared to 7/8.

multiply 4 x 8 which is 32 (common denominator)

Now multiply 3 x 8 which is 24.

Multiply 7 x 4 which is 28.

Now you have 24/32 compared to 28/32.

28 is more than 24.

7/8 is the bigger fraction.
You multiplied the denominators, but then you seemed to have multiplied the first numerator with the second denominator, then the second numerator with the first denominator. Why?

We are having a Valentines getaway as soon as we can, hopefully next week or the week after. But neither of us will be in a position to afford a wedding any time soon; I'm okay with being engaged indefinitely, but if I know her, she'll try to make it happen as fast as she can...and I don't want her being the only one saving up for it. We agreed that I would graduate school before committing to any kind of long term job (for multiple reasons).

She does want to marry though. We've talked about it a lot. And she has told me she's too scared to propose because her first marriage was a disaster. Our relationship is, mostly, really good and there's a lot of love. I have a great way to propose to her if I want to do it (not a ring, that'll come later, and she seemed to be okay with that when I mentioned something about it in passing). It's also not a perfect relationship, but what relationship even is? We've been together for a year and five months, and lived together for two.

So how do I know when it's "the right time" vs when it's just me being too hasty?

Kinda seems like a waste of the system they've carried on for decades. I haven't played a traditional game in a while because I have grown bored of them, but they do have a lot more complexity with a larger and more diverse move pool plus abilities. Of course, I'm sure that's more or less what you mean by building upon the Legends battle system, but completely abandoning the old ways would be weird.
I'm not terribly far into it but so far, the battle system doesn't seem that much different to me.

It should really be the new standard for the mainline games. Pokemon's formula is stale, Game Freak should take Arceus' gameplay and expand upon it for Gen 9.

Math is literally easy as fuck.

The rules never change and there is no grey area at all.
It may be easy once you actually know what you're doing and why you're doing it, but getting to that point is the hard part.

As someone who had to take the very bottom level of math in college and worked myself up to finishing my engineering degree next semester, I completely agree with you.

Unfortunately, math is a language and sometimes you'll do so many problems and not understand any of it. Sometimes understanding comes later.

Like English, the only way to get better is to continue to practice. The good news is that math follows a specific formula and as you continue to practice that formula it gets dummy easy.

Download Anki and throw your problems on there and study it everyday. I owe Professor Leonard and Anki my academic career.
Anki is a good idea actually; I used it all the time to learn/memorize kanji back in the day. And my brother has repeatedly told me Professor Leonard is excellent, but his videos are apparently really long.

Simplifying a fraction like 68/12? This is more of a logic problem than just typical math, as there isnt just a brain dead process to get the right answer, you have to actually think:
-What is the largest multiple of 12 that is less than 68?
Then
-What is the largest number that goes into both the numerator and denominator in order to simplify?

My advice would be to just practice. Get a list of 100 different improper fractions and go through them. Also dont check if you got the right answer after every problem. Do like 10 in a row, and then check your answers.
That is a good idea, but nearly impossible while I'm juggling between two classes. It already takes me a few hours a day just to stay caught up on my math class, and that has significantly less problems than 100. Not to mention, if I study for any longer than like, 2 and a half hours on the same thing (math in this case), my brain starts to fog and I have to take a break for a few hours.

Lots of fractions-related stuff. For example, I frequently forget how to convert an improper fraction into a mixed number, even after looking it up a million times. Another example is simplifying fractions; I usually end up not simplifying them to their lowest terms, and I'm just like...wtf.

I've always been bad with math. Even after going over the same concepts in multiple problems, multiple times, there's always a crucial step I miss or forget no matter how many times I repeat it.

I'm taking college classes online and I'm really struggling even with just remedial math. I have a 50 question, proctored test this weekend and I'm nervous as hell because I always have to keep googling the same concepts, but I can't do that when I'm being proctored. If I don't have my hand held through problems, I almost always get them wrong.

I just don't know how to commit certain things to memory. My mind goes blank. Anyone else relate and/or have any advice?
