as someone who is from New Jersey, no one really challenged him in the primary. In 2018- he won 62 percent to 38 percent against a person who didnt even have a website about their policies. This time around though, he is going to get a real challenger as Andy Kim is going to run against him who is already a congressman and was one of the people cleaning up after the capitol riots. He is pretty well liked.

Every one i've been in had the smell of that buttery popcorn they used to sell. Even after they stopped selling it, the store continued having that smell.

Worked in the West Orange,NJ Kmart about a decade ago and it seemed like it never got past the 90s

I lived near Kearny and Belleville nj kmart. The stores just were stuck in time not getting better

Kmart was a gold mine for finding hard to find games. I remember finding a copy of Dragon Quest V for DS there years ago. It was still retail price but it was after it was long out of print and hard to find for a decent price anywhere else.

kmarts day of having video games has long past. Its been over a decade since Ive seen a Kmart with some video games in it

Dying stores always make me sad. They are just things, but they are also places where memories are made. Where people meet, chat, browse, and buy. Where stories are told, dreams are shared, and emotions are felt. There is something lost when a store closes its doors for the last time. A part of history, a part of culture, a part of life.

I know it is hypocritical of me to say this, as someone who shops online now. I know I am part of the reason why stores are dying. I know I should support them more, visit them more, shop in them more. But I also know that online shopping is more convenient, more affordable, more accessible. It is hard to resist the temptation of clicking a button and getting what I want delivered to my door.

But sometimes I miss the feeling of walking into a store, smelling the scent of new books or fresh flowers, touching the fabric of a shirt or the cover of a magazine, hearing the music or the chatter of other customers, seeing the colors and the shapes and the styles of the products. Sometimes I miss the human connection, the interaction with the staff, the smile or the nod or the thank you. Sometimes I miss the thrill of finding a bargain or a treasure or a surprise.

I dont know if stores will ever come back to life, or if they will fade away into oblivion. I dont know if online shopping will ever replace the experience and the joy of shopping in person. I dont know if I will ever stop feeling sad when I see a dying store.

It they also remember me a time when I was happy. I was healthy and I had the world at my fingertips. But depression and fear let that slide by. The passage of time is walk down the hall way of regret , and old stores are a monument to that. Forever frozen in time. Or worst it dying sell to be infested with a seasonal store.

Don't feel bad about this. Kmart did it to themselves honestly. <_<

They could still be around if they didn't make crappy decisions over the years.

Other stores have done a lot of mistakes as well. There is a reason why Target is still around and not Kmart.

It makes sense. Blue light special has become a part of popular culture, the look of a Kmart is in our memories.

People create things during their lives and as people we acsribe value to these creations, big and small. When they die it reminds us that both the things we create that give us pleasure and sentimental feelings are impermanent, and so too are we. And so too is humanity.

It's just a chain store, but humans are good at recognizing ourselves reflected in the world. As a kid things like K-Mart and David Bowie and the school we went too seem as much a part of the world as the sky and the stars, but they all pass in time.

I miss David Bowie but his music will live on! I will miss Kmart too because it was something I grew up with. There were two Kmarts within a one mile radius of where I lived and man have I seen it go from thriving to a barely there dump. I remember when Kmarts had long ass lines on Saturdays a few years back when I used to buy water bottles from them but no more. I remember at one point in time, Kmart had electronics but it has been over a decade.

I drink a little bit but Im no drunk. Drinks arent even a daily weekend thing for me anymore but I am not against getting a drink every so often. I use excel but I dont use that often or in a really complex matter. I can do a pivot table.

no not really. My coworkers are nice and there are no dicks and on occasion I will go out with them for drinks but I dont feel like I know any of them really. Everyone is so busy. Oftentimes we dont socialize that much. The problem is you dont really speak to people outside of your department. For a long time my department was only me and my boss and my boss always leaves early because he has an infant that he has to take home from daycare after work.

hell until about tomorrow my department was scattered through the office. My office just acquired a location next to our office. So they are going to move people there and my department will all be moved together and be in one spot for the first time in my near one year of working at my company

Does not having a CPA limit your promotion potential?

Depends on the company. It will matter at a CPA firm to get promoted but once you get outside of cpa forms, it depends on the company. At my company it doesnt matter that. My boss who is the controller of my department is not a CPA and he probably makes a lot more than I do. One of the managers is not a CPA. There is also a lot of finance positions at my company, so my company is not accounting only. If I went out and got a CPA tomorrow, it wouldnt automatically mean I would get some promotion at the company Im currently at. It just depends on the company.

some sort of accounting background I believe. I only have a masters of accounting because I got my BA in English. Since we have finance positions, you dont need to be an accountant to be hired. But I do think a BA in accounting or finance would be helpfu

Whats the stress level and workload?

Honestly even though there is a lot of work, there isn't that much stress. You work 40 hours and that is it. It's a 9 to 5 job and around 5:30, everyone is gone. I know some accounting jobs have long hours but this one is not one of them. Everyone is pretty understanding and no one is dicks.

I don't know if there is a big fuck up at my company. My company has hedge fund money behind it. So it's pretty much if there are mistakes, it's like we can fix them eventually but currently in my department, there are no mistakes where people are screaming at you. I think overall there is a lot of work and we are a bit understaffed, so people are understanding of what is going on. It isn't like people are slacking because we are always working

At this job, there is always work. It is not hard work, it is just easy work but work that requires time. It is sometimes repetitive but it isn't work that isn't going to totally consume my time. I work 40 hours max but I am always working 40 hours. Thankfully I don't have an accounting job where I have to work 60 to 80 hour weeks.

Honestly I don't have to deal with that. Maybe upper management has to deal with that but I am basically an AP manager. We have a lot of work and we are always hiring people, so my company tries to comply the best they can.

Keep applying. There is a shortage of accountants because people are retiring and no one wants to really wants to go into accounting. Also if you get a message from someone in LinkedIn about an accounting position- listen to that person to see what they have to say. I got my current job through a Linkedin recruiter that I was not expecting. I still get messages from Linkedin recruiters from time to time even though I am currently fine with my job. At one point in time, I might have brushed off a Linkedin recruiter but I am so glad that I listened to one because it really helped me out with my cushy position.
