The weird thing is that all of the buttons do what they are normally supposed to do outside of battle, so that is almost certainly not the case.

Like to the point where something actually feels wrong. In battle, I have to use the R button to attack/block with the character I have mapped to the B button (I'm using the Switch Pro Controller here), and in order to use a meter attack I have to press both R+B, but that automatically does the meter attack of the character I have mapped to B and won't let me use it with the character I have mapped to X. And no, I have no weird configuration settings on my controller. This feels weird and unlike it should...

Anyway, I voted Master Chief because if this whole Nintendo/Microsoft thing has really been building up to a legitimate Halo release on Switch, there's really no more fitting character to be the final character possibly ever added to Smash.

That being said, I'm disappointed by the lack of Lara Croft on the poll. I think she's a really nice dark horse pick and just as iconic as anyone up there.

It definitely won't be Waluigi. Or Isaac or Bomberman or anyone else who has been highly requested for years but still got put in as an assist trophy. Sakurai made a point that he picked the base game newcomers based on fan requests, to the point where he added the character he'd been saying for years he'd never put in the game (I'm talking about Ridley of course). The fact that characters like Isaac and Waluigi still ended up as ATs was, to me, his way of saying once and for all that he doesn't view them as viable additions to the roster.

I actually think a Pokemon is incredibly unlikely at this point. I did legitimately think we'd get a Gen 8 Pokemon in the second season, but the timing would have been best around Min-Min or Steve's reveal.

I think we can safely assume no Doug characters. I think they might have to go through some kind of legal deal with Disney and I'm sure they don't think it's worth it.

I'll wait to see if the Switch version has Game Cube controller support to determine which console I buy this on.

From the power going out until you beat Nightmare is the hardest stretch of the game. A lot of brutal stuff in a row with very little cooldown and lots of long periods with saving unavailable.

I lost to Omega three times. SA-X was a bitch at first but after a while it became pretty routine.

I still say either Nightmare or the spider thing was the hardest because those are the two I have the least faith I could repeat my success with.

I made it back to the secret section of Sector 1 after destroying the Metroid lab and discovering that there are multiple SA-Xs on board.

Made it past the SA-X chase. That was intense. Now I'm in a room where I keep dying almost immediately because I keep getting knocked into these stupid flowers that just suck your health until you die and no matter what I do I can't get out of them once i get knocked in.

Yeah okay, I didn't mean for my post to be interpreted as entirely black-and-white. There's nothing wrong with wanting to overrule your protagonist being named "Gay Pants" (especially given that you included an in-universe fail safe to avoid such a name), or feeling frustrated if one or two people constantly derail the story and prevent any momentum. But there's a difference between that and overruling any creative liberties you didn't anticipate. As with any board project, hosting means accepting that you might not be happy with the results. It isn't fair, but it's been that way for 20 years.

As for the name and other characters' reactions to it, sometimes you just have to allow for a little suspension of disbelief. In Ace Attorney almost everyone has a silly name but they hardly ever get questioned. We the audience giggle, but the characters mostly just accept it.

Since it's very clear you had some pretty specific scenarios in mind (which kinda goes against the idea of a CYOA) and were going almost Life is Strange-ish, my suggestion would be to write the whole thing, including the branching paths for various choices, and publish it to some platform that hosts CYOAs of that sort like a text-based adventure game. Because I guarantee you you weren't going to get the kind of participation you wanted. Juan Bond Jovi is pretty par for the course as far as Board 8 CYOAs go. Maybe even on the tame side.

Tiny-Huge Island has only one bad star (the 8 Red Coins) and a difficult section in the windswept valley (I can never get the damn wind to carry me properly) but the latter can be traversed around.
