digiiiiiiiii 09/15/17 4:32:56 PM #90 | Steiner posted... i feel like many of the users so far have been actively trying to subvert expectations for their song. for what it's worth, i have no such ambitons for what it's worth, i'm thinking hard about the song i want to rec, but i definitely am not trying that. i know i've linked this song + video a few times over the years on b8 i mean, yeah, at some point i will rec a larry and his flask song and a machinae supremacy song and a dessa song but the fact that i didn't in week 1 isn't for any reason other than those aren't what i felt like sharing right now --- |

digiiiiiiiii 09/13/17 4:47:06 PM #61 | Gangstagrass - I Go Hard (Snake5555555555) To be honest, I love Gangstagrass Unfortunately, I think TONE-Z isn't that great and the lyrics in this one are kind of laughable given his stature in the hip-hop community. Everything he says is super flat, and the bluegrass severely outpaces the actual rapping. Gangstagrass as a concept is great and they have some great songs -- featuring TONE-Z, even -- but they have better ones than this. Paramore - Told You So (Bane_Of_Despair) I like hard Paramore more than I like soft Paramore .. but weird, synthy, disco-influenced Paramore from their latest album? Yeah, I like them a lot more than the rest. If the album was an awful, pop-inspired trainwreck with the goal of keeping them relevant, I wouldn't be interested. But there's something so soulful about their latest album. This particular song is good, but imo, one of the weaker ones from the new album. It's probably the tamest, which probably has something to do with me thinking it's the weaker of the album. Nick Hakim - Miss Chew (CherryCokes) I'm unfamiliar with the artist, which is nice. I'm really liking what I'm here. So chill, and then they introduce that saxophone and it's at times beautiful and nearer the end, super discordant and jarring. The vocals are nice, but I could probably listen to a version of that instrumental on loop for several hours while writing. Anthony Burns - Innovation (MycroProcessor) For the purposes of a single song, this didn't do a lot for me for as long as it went on. It doesn't sound like one thing building to a climax, it sounds like a lot of separate parts strung together. That said, the parts are pretty dang good. He's clearly a very talented drummer, but the mix is super weird with how prominent they are over the other music. It seems like that other music, that interests me a lot more than the drumming, is kind of less important overall. I listen to a lot of instrumental stuff for my work and I'd dig something like this on a playlist, but sitting and listening just to this doesn't do much for it. Olga Bell - Zone (mcflubbin) I'm not against this style of music at all -- some hip-hop inspired electro-pop -- but I really can't get into her voice. The music is nice, her voice, while I'm sure loved by many, is not my thing. Hop Along - Waitress (VeryInsane) I'm somewhat familiar with this band, though I never did listen to the 2015 album where this song comes from. I've always known them to be a grungy, weird band and I like it when they go with dirty vocals over clean. This song features a mix of both, a lot more poppy than I'm used to from them, but still very good and definitely in my wheelhouse. I just want more energy out of them. --- |

digiiiiiiiii 09/13/17 8:44:33 AM #39 | I think I've decided the port of The Dishwasher: Vampire Smile to PC simply isn't a good one. Also, I think I've decided that I maybe don't like that game as much as I thought I would? The game is extremely difficult and asks for a higher level of precision than I believe the engine actually allows, at least on PC. I feel like my timing is on point and I'm still dying to really stupid stuff. And technically, there are isues. On my desktop, it scales horribly to higher resolutions (if you're not going to have it scale right, cap it) and on my laptop, it seems to be running like ass despite me having a 950M, which is more than enough to handle a game like that. I love Salt and Sanctuary, though. I wonder if Charlie Murder is also not a great port. I'll try that one soon --- |

Topic | What are the benefits to having a Desktop vs a Laptop? |
digiiiiiiiii 09/09/17 9:29:04 PM #35 | If you do go with a desktop and you are set on prebuilt, don't get an Acer. Pretty much every manufacturer makes quality laptops these days -- including Acer -- but the big company prebuilt desktops are still absolute trash. With a prebuilt from somewhere like iBuyPower or CyberPower or something like that, you're getting a lot more for your money and the potential for expandability/upgradability I can't read the whole topic right now but one of the positives of a desktop would be an always-on media center like I mentioned to you previously with my Plex account. Laptops, though, are better now than they ever have been. Even gaming laptops are smart buys now since the cards in them are comparable to desktop cards. If you get a performance laptop, you'll want to search for "heat" "overheat" "hot" etc in the text of reviews because that's your primary concern. If you're not getting something for performance, then you want lightweight and fast. --- |

I've tried it and I think it would be wayyyy better if phone VR had better head tracking and less of those massive distortions when viewing video. Though even with how broken and low resolution it was, it was pretty different experience, so that's promising. on top of that, i had to take the whole thing apart twice to find a rogue smudge on one of the lenses and that was a big issue lol --- |
