Whats wrong with lawns being a part of American culture?

Americans aren't allowed to have a culture in 2018. Being American is wrong now, and so is being white, and so is being a male while being white. Don't be proud of your country unless you're talking about the people whose boots aren't currently in it. And you don't get a free pass on owning things unless you're not white, because it's exemplary when someone not white owns a big house or a nice car, but when it's someone white, of course they do. Doesn't matter if they worked for 60 years to get it or, hell, built the house with their own two god damn hands. You can't deserve anything when you're white. You can't earn anything when you're white. Everything is given to you, even if nobody gave it to you.

You can sit right there and stereotype the shit out of America, or white people, and it won't get a single degree warmer... you stereotype about any other culture, any other race, and you will feel the heat.

this is really great satire.

In Sacha Baron Cohens provocative new comedy show, American politicians are filmed backing a fictitious program to teach kindergartners how to use guns to defend themselves in school shootings.

In a seven-episode series launching on cable channel Showtime on Sunday, the British prankster takes on four different personas as he satirizes the political and cultural life of the United States in the era of President Donald Trump.

In the first episode of Who is America?, previewed for media by Showtime, Baron Cohen poses as an Israeli anti-terror expert who gets two U.S. congressmen to voice support for his fake Kinderguardians scheme for children as young as three.

The scheme includes a fake instructional video featuring childrens songs and gunimals weapons adorned with soft toys that would purportedly help kids confront the school shootings that have plagued the United States for the past decade.

Republican congressmen Dana Rohrabacher of California and Joe Wilson of South Carolina, along with former Senate Republican leader Trent Lott, who is now a lobbyist at a Washington law firm, are shown enthusiastically backing the idea, alongside gun rights advocates and a former congressman-turned-talk radio host, Joe Walsh.

Showtime and Sacha Baron Cohen both declined to comment on the series. Those shown endorsing the fake scheme, including the politicians, had not seen the finished show ahead of its Sunday premiere. Rohrabacher, Wilson and Lott did not immediately reply to requests for comment late on Saturday.

http://fortune.com/2018/07/15/elon-musk-donations-republicans-controversy/

Its been a rough weekend for Elon Musk, and its not letting up: the Tesla CEO came under sudden and harsh scrutiny Saturday for political contributions to conservative politicians and campaign groups. Detractors, primarily on Twitter, say the donations contradict Musks purportedly pro-environment and socially progressive image, while illustrating deeper problems with the role of money in politics.

The controversy appears to have been kicked off by reports, from outlets including Salon, on new Federal Election Commission filings showing that Musk donated $38,900 to a Political Action Committee named Protect the House. Other contributors to the same fund include NFL owner Robert McNair and casino kingpin Sheldon Adelson, both of whom have made large contributions to President Donald Trump and other Republicans.

Critics have characterized Musks contribution as support for a party that opposes much of what he claims to stand for. Above all, the GOP has long been affiliated with attempts to deny the science that predicted climate change, while Musk created an entire company, Tesla, aimed at spreading green-energy technologies.

Musk has been vigorously defending himself against critics, primarily by describing his contributions as aimed at getting access across the political spectrum, not at supporting a Republican agenda.

it's probably not a good idea for someone environmentally conscious to aid those who directly oppose such a thing.

trump has already admitted that nothing concrete came from that and even congress knows trump is blowing smoke up everyone's butt. his involvement is only going to hurt south korea's chance at achieving peace.

https://www.thedailybeast.com/congress-moves-to-force-trump-to-come-clean-on-north-korea-talks

President Donald Trump is gaslighting the planet about North Koreas nukes, according to a well-connected analyst. So Congress is moving on multiple fronts to force the White House to come clean on its negotiations with Pyongyang.

A bipartisan group of lawmakers has introduced a bill that would, in the words of an aide involved in the process, give the administration some diplomatic training wheels and ensure that officials dont agree to give away more concessions before North Koreas nuclear capabilities are fully evaluated.

Meanwhile, the top Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee is demanding an official assessment from the nations top intelligence chief on whether the presidents positive outlook on the negotiations holds water.

Trump claimed after his summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Singapore that the nuclear threat from North Korea is no longerdespite his own White Houses claims to the contrary.

Jeffrey Lewis, a nonproliferation expert at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies, compared the administrations recent declarations of success regarding the negotiations to gaslighting.

A Missouri neo-Nazi armed with a gun who disabled an Amtrak train traveling through southwest Nebraska last year pleaded guilty Thursday to a terrorism charge and could spend the rest of his life in prison.

Im the conductor now, bitch! Taylor M. Wilson told three train conductors as they wrestled with him in the engine compartment to take back control of the train, according to court documents that detail a harrowing experience for the 175 passengers on board.

Some passengers were so panicked they tried to jump off the train through the windows.

According to the Lincoln Journal Star, when the federal magistrate judge on Thursday asked Wilson, 26, of St. Charles why he took over the train, he told her, I was high.

According to court documents:

Wilson got on the train on or about Oct. 19. He had a respiratory mask, a hammer and knife, .380 caliber ammunition, a sleeping bag and IDs related to the National Socialist Movement.

Against Amtrak passenger policy, he also had a handgun.

On Oct. 23, with the gun tucked into the waistband of his pants, he made his way into a secured engine compartment on the train, off-limits to unauthorized personnel, according to posted signs.

He later told a cellmate that he dropped acid before he loaded the gun and entered the compartment.

Once inside, he disabled the train and cut the lights to the passenger compartments.

Train passengers were suddenly in the dark. Train personnel were running up and down the aisles of the train attempting to determine the cause of the emergency stop in rural Furnas County, Nebraska, says the plea agreement.

Some passengers, in fear, attempted to escape through the trains windows. Passengers became aware that another passenger had entered into the trains engine and that caused the sudden stop and the lights to fail, increasing the panic on board the train.

A conductor saw Wilson inside the engine compartment. He was sitting in the engineers seat of the trains follow engine, playing with the controls, Assistant U.S. Attorney Lesley Woods said in court Thursday, according to the Journal Star.

As three conductors tried to subdue him, Wilson reached for his waistband, where first responders would later recover the handgun, documents say.

https://www.cnet.com/news/pepe-the-frog-removed-from-neo-nazi-site-daily-stormer/

Matt Furie, the artist behind Pepe the Frog, began a legal battle last year against "alt-right" personalties and sites using images of his character.

Last week he and his lawyers celebrated a win against neo-Nazi site the Daily Stormer, which removed all images of the comic frog on July 3, according to his attorney Louis Tompros.

Pepe has had a tumultuous journey, beginning as a character in Furie's Boy's Club in 2005 before becoming a meme on 4chan and Tumblr. He was ultimately co-opted by white nationalists in 2015.

Leading up to the 2016 presidential campaign, Pepe was used to promote racism and anti-Semitism. He was repurposed as a KKK member, a Nazi stormtrooper and Adolf Hitler. The Anti-Defamation League soon added Pepe to a database of hate symbols.

In 2017, an alt-right children's book called The Adventures of Pepe and Pede was published. Furie fought back with the help of lawyers and got the book pulled. They also pushed white nationalist Richard Spencer to drop Pepe as a podcast logo with a cease and desist letter.

Furie and his lawyers have now forced the Daily Stormer to remove images and references of Pepe with Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) takedown requests. The site, which has been called the "top hate site in America," has been online and offline repeatedly lately. It was taken down briefly last year following protests in Charlottesville, Virginia. It reappeared under a new Russian domain but went offline again after internet security provider Cloudflare dropped support for the site. A version of the site then moved onto the darknet.

That made sending DMCA takedown requests to the Daily Stormer difficult, said Tompros, one of Furie's lawyers at law firm WilmerHale. By the time their letter had gone through one web host, he said, the Daily Stormer was on to another one.

Tompros said they identified about 25 instances in which Pepe was used on the site. The lawyers never heard back from the Daily Stormer after sending their takedown requests, but kept checking the site to see if the posts were taken down. On July 2, they noticed some of the images were down. By the next day, he said, they were all down.

"Everything that we identified was taken down," Tompros said. "It may be that there are new things or things that popped up more recently that were not on our list. It's a little bit like a game of whack-a-mole."

The Daily Stormer didn't respond to an email seeking comment.

Furie and his lawyers have successfully had somewhere between around 30 to 50 entities take down infringed Pepe material, according to Tompros.

There have also been a few lawsuits. Last year, Furie sued an artist who used images of Pepe in her work. In March, he filed a lawsuit against Alex Jones and Free Speech Systems LLC, claiming Jones and his "Infowars" show violated his copyright for Pepe.

https://www.telesurtv.net/english/news/Israel-Selling-Arms-To-Neo-Nazi-Ukrainian-Militia-Case-Claims-20180710-0021.html

Activists file a case in Israeli high court claiming the government is training and exporting war-grade weapons to anti-Semitic Ukrainians.

Human rights groups have filed a complaint with the Israeli High Court of Justice demanding that the government stop selling automatic weapons to Ukrainian neo-Nazi militia.

More than 40 human rights activists signed the petition arguing that Israel is selling military-style Tavor and Negev automatic weapons to the Ukrainian government, knowing that some of these arms end up in the hands of right-wing, neo-Nazi Azov militia.

Azov, now 3,000 members strong, was formed was formed in 2014 after the Russian invasion of Crimea. Since 2015 it has been one of the governments regular security forces but manages to maintain itself as a separate paramilitary of sorts. Highly troubling is that Azov members openly use the Hitler salute and don swastikas and SS insignias.

While the Israeli government wont disclose its arms sales, the court claim, lead by Jerusalem-based human rights attorney Itay Mack sites abundant evidence that Ukraine is purchasing these weapons.

Mack says that Azov militia and Ukrainian soldiers are regularly armed with Israeli-made Tavor rifles, reports Haaretz. The Azov website also shows its members using Tavor rifles. Mack notes that the Ukrainian militia is being trained by Israeli Defense Forces.

In addition, Ukraines air force chief also met with an Israeli defense company in 2016 to discuss the upgrading of Ukrainian warplane communication systems. Adding to the evidence of bilateral arms deals, the Ukrainian company Fort was approved to produce Israeli Tavor, Negev, and Galil rifles.

The petitioners contend that Israel should not be selling its weapons and arms licenses to avowed neo-Nazis.

The formation of Azov and its possession of Israeli weaponry coincides with an upsurge in outward aggressions toward Jews and minorities in Ukraine.

Neo-Nazi groups have attacked Jews and Jewish memorial sites across the country in recent years. Journalists, Roma people, and LGBTQI have also been attacked by nationalist groups in Ukraine. In May right-wing groups marched through Odessa, claiming that the city belongs to Ukrainians, not Jews, who should be eliminated from the city.

Not only are social groups aligning with neo-Nazi nationalist ideologies, but so are those within the government.

https://www.cnbc.com/2018/07/11/republicans-take-little-action-to-stop-trump-trade-war-with-china.html

Congressional Republicans who oppose the Trump administration's mounting trade conflicts around the globe appear increasingly helpless as the president threatens more tariffs on top trading partners.

As a trade war with China could widen and damage a broader swath of the U.S. economy ahead of November's midterm elections, GOP lawmakers hold little leverage over a president intent on cracking down on alleged unfair trade tactics.

Facing the prospect of a presidential veto, Senate Republican leaders have not yet taken up a bipartisan proposal to limit President Donald Trump's ability to impose tariffs. On Wednesday, the chamber plans to vote on a "motion to instruct" related to Trump's authority to levy duties which can recommend a course of action, but does not compel the president to make any move.

Sen. Jeff Flake, an Arizona Republican and one of the leading congressional critics of Trump's trade policy, called the action "a first step toward reasserting Congress's constitutional role on tariffs." He said the motion will relate to Section 232, or the president's authority to impose tariffs over alleged threats to U.S. national security.

Even if the Senate approves the motion, neither lawmakers nor the president have to abide by it. Deterred by the president's veto power, the GOP-controlled Congress appears reluctant to take more concrete action checking Trump's authority, even as many lawmakers contend the widening trade conflicts will harm both American companies and consumers.

Trump's actions and retaliatory duties levied by China, Canada, Mexico and the European Union have so far affected only a small pocket of the U.S. economy, leaving it off the top of most lawmakers' priority lists. It is unclear what amount of damage to consumers and businesses, if any, would compel a veto-proof majority of Congress to vote to check the president's tariff authority.

their motion to instruct is rather pointless. we all know trump wouldn't listen to them.

https://www.theverge.com/2018/6/27/17509114/pubg-fortnite-lawsuit-copyright-dropped

Korean company PUBG, a subsidiary of Bluehole, has dropped its lawsuit against Fortnite makers Epic Games. The PUBG owners originally filed the lawsuit earlier this year, alleging copyright infringement against Epic Games. While PlayerUnknowns Battlegrounds soared in popularity last year, Epic Games introduced its own battle royale mode in Fortnite with similar features all built on the same Unreal Engine 4 that was created and licensed by Epic Games.

Bloomberg reports that the lawsuit has been dropped, but its not clear why and whether there was any settlement between PUBG and Epic Games. PUBG developer Bluehole previously revealed it had growing concerns about the similarities between the two games, and its a battle that seemed to be boiling over into the courts with this lawsuit.

Both Epic Games and PUBG developer Bluehole are part-owned by Tencent Holdings, and Tencent has reportedly been nearing a deal to increase its PUBG investment to 10 percent. While its unlikely a copyright infringement accusation could complicate that deal, the lawsuit would be difficult to prove and win particularly when Fortnite has copied PUBGs ideas and not necessarily its content.

Fortnite continues to grow in popularity despite the squabbles. Fortnite surpassed PUBG in monthly revenue in March, and the game now has 125 million players a year after launch. Fortnite has also been at the center of a cross-play controversy with Sony after the PlayStation 4 maker blocked players from accessing their Fortnite PS4 accounts on the Nintendo Switch.

pubg suing over the theft of ideas was dumb in the first place.

https://www.vox.com/2018/7/9/17525860/nazis-russell-walker-arthur-jones-republicans-illinois-north-carolina-virginia

In at least five state and national races across the country, the Republican Party is dealing with an uncomfortable problem. Their partys candidates are either a card-carrying Nazi, a Holocaust denier, a proud white supremacist, or all of the above.

In North Carolina, for example, GOP officials are stuck with Russell Walker, a white supremacist running for the state House of Representatives. According to his personal website (littered with the n-word), he believes that the jews are NOT semitic they are satanic as they all descend from Satan.

Republicans in the state have regrets. This is a very Democratic district, one that we failed to keep our eye on, Dallas Woodhouse, executive chair of the North Carolina GOP, told me in an email. However, we cant stop him from running.

In Illinois, meanwhile, the Republican Party shrugged off Arthur Jones, a candidate for the states 3rd Congressional district who boasted of his membership in the American Nazi Party. But Jones won the GOP primary, and now party officials, including ones who called Jones morally reprehensible and a complete nutcase, are scrambling to launch a write-in campaign. Joness campaign website features a section called Holocaust? in which he argues that the idea that six million Jews, were killed by the National Socialist government of Germany, in World War II, is the biggest, blackest lie in history.

In Virginia, the chair of the state GOP resigned earlier this month, reportedly because of alt-right leaning, pro-Confederate candidate Corey Stewarts win in the Republican primary. But even Stewart had to disavow Wisconsins Paul Nehlen, who is running to replace Speaker Paul Ryan. Nehlens too racist for Twitter and even for Gab, the preferred social media platform of the alt-right. Meanwhile, a California Republican running for Congress has been making appearances on neo-Nazi podcasts and argues on his campaign website that diversity is a Jewish plot. (The California GOP has disavowed him.)

Racial animus helped fuel the rise of Donald Trump. Since the end of the civil rights movement and under Republican strategist Lee Atwaters Southern strategy that used racism as an unstated cudgel against Democrats, the Republican Party itself has played a welcoming host to racial tensions and fears. Simultaneously, it has depicted itself, as conservative columnist Jeff Jacoby put it in 2012, as the party of color-blind equality and a party that doesnt think with its skin.

But in a year when the left is energized in opposition to Trump, particularly by his policies toward minority groups and immigrants, and as the GOP tries to hang on to their majorities in Congress and state houses around the country, state party officials say they do not need racist fringe candidates running for office. None of these candidates is expected to win in the general election this fall, but they are going to give liberals on the hunt for examples of simmering neo-Nazi and neo-Confederate rhetoric at least five places to point.

Government lawyers said Friday that they cannot locate the parents of 38 migrant children under the age of 5, as a federal judge indicated he is open to extending the deadline for reuniting nearly 3,000 children separated from their mothers and fathers while crossing the US-Mexico border.

In a status hearing with U.S. District Judge Dana Sabraw of the Southern District of California, who ordered the reunification, government lawyers said the Health and Human Services Department would only be able to reunify about half of approximately 100 children under the age of 5 by the court-ordered deadline of July 10.

For 19 children, their parents have been released from custody into the U.S. and their whereabouts are unknown. The parents of another 19 children have been deported.

"The way [a family separation] is put in the system is not in some aggregable form, so we cant just run it all," said Sarah Fabian, the Justice Department attorney representing the government before Sabraw.

Sabraw said he would agree to delay the deadline for reunifying the youngest children if the government could provide a master list of all children and the status of their parents. Sabraw ordered the administration to share a list of 101 children with the American Civil Liberties Union by Saturday afternoon.

The judge scheduled a status conference for 10 a.m. Pacific time on Monday. A government lawyer said she could not attend a status conference over the weekend because she had out-of-town dog-sitting responsibilities.

"The government must reunite them," Sabraw said. "It must comply with the time frame unless there is an articulable reason."

In a court filing, attorneys for the U.S. government claimed the court mandate for returning all children under 5 to their parents by July 10 and all other children by July 26 does not account for the time required to verify and vet each parent.

Former Fox News co-President Bill Shine has been named White House deputy chief of staff for communications and assistant to the president, the White House announced Thursday.

Fox News announced Shine's resignation from the network in May 2017 in the aftermath of sexual harassment scandals at Fox that led to the departure of Chairman Roger Ailes and host Bill O'Reilly. As NPR's David Folkenflik has reported, Shine was never accused of harassment, but women at the network alleged that Shine was aware of inappropriate behavior at Fox News and failed to properly address it. Shine denied those allegations.

The White House has been without a communications director since longtime Trump aide Hope Hicks left in March.

Hicks stepped in last August after a series of shake-ups within the White House press and communications staffs. She had replaced Anthony Scaramucci, whose short-lived but memorable stint as White House communications director came to an end after he gave an expletive-filled interview to The New Yorker.

Shine will join a communications team that has, like the rest of the Trump administration, seen substantial turnover. Press secretary Sean Spicer resigned in July 2017, just six months into the Trump administration.

https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2018/07/comcast-starts-throttling-mobile-video-will-charge-extra-for-hd-streams/

Comcast's Xfinity Mobile service is imposing new speed limits on video watching and personal hotspot usage, and the company will start charging extra for high-definition video over the cellular network.

The short version is that videos will be throttled to 480p (DVD quality) on all Comcast mobile plans unless you pay extra, while Comcast's "unlimited" plan will limit mobile hotspot speeds to 600kbps. Only customers who pay by the gigabyte will get full-speed tethering, but the cost would add up quickly as Comcast charges $12 for each gigabyte.

Comcast last year began selling mobile plans with data, voice, and texting. Comcast doesn't operate its own cellular network, so it resells Verizon Wireless service.

The new speed limits could help Comcast save money on the reselling fees it pays Verizon. In a statement to Ars, Comcast said it's making the changes "to help us maintain the low price point of Xfinity Mobile." While Comcast doesn't control the Verizon network and thus can't impose speed limits directly, Comcast told Ars that Verizon offers resellers an option to limit video resolution.

Comcast said that 480p "is consistent with standard unlimited plans across carriers," and that it's making the changes to bring Comcast's offerings in line with the rest of the industry. Verizon began throttling mobile video to 480p or 720p on smartphones last year; the system limits the amount of bandwidth available to anything identified as a video. Carriers argue that many consumers can't tell the difference between 480p and higher quality on smartphone screens.

Customers get bad news in email
Comcast has been telling Xfinity Mobile customers about the changes in an email titled, "Update on cellular video resolution and personal hotspots." One Comcast customer forwarded the email to Ars, and there's also a Reddit thread discussing the email. All Xfinity Mobile customers are receiving this email, Comcast confirmed to Ars.

"To help you conserve data, we've established 480p as the standard resolution for streaming video through cellular data," Comcast told customers. For now, customers can contact Comcast for an "upgrade" to 720p video "on an interim basis at no charge."

But after the interim period is over, getting HD-quality video will cost extra. "Later this year, 720p video over cellular data will be available as a fee-based option with your service," Comcast told customers. Comcast hasn't mentioned any plans to make 1080p or any resolution higher than 720p available over cellular, and there's no word from Comcast yet on what enabling 720p video will cost. Comcast previously imposed no speed limits on video streaming on the Xfinity Mobile service.

"It's important to note that this change won't impact video resolution when using Wi-Fi, where customers will continue to be able to stream in HD," Comcast told Ars. Over Wi-Fi networks, including Comcast's public hotspots, video will play at whatever resolution is streamed by the video provider, a Comcast spokesperson told Ars. Nearly half of videos that stream on Comcast's mobile service play at 480p today, according to the company.

The Comcast email also directs customers to an FAQ describing the video changes.

according to the article, net neutrality rules may not have stopped this, however it's clear they are enacting it now because the lack of net neutrality leaves no possibility for this to be opposed.

is it just anti-white identity politics you have a problem with, because our president won the seat thanks in part to playing white identity politics.

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/latino/citizenship-application-backlog-skyrocketed-under-trump-report-finds-n888146

The backlog of pending applications for immigrants legally in the country trying to become U.S. citizens has skyrocketed under President Donald Trump, according to a new report from an immigrant rights organization.

There were nearly 730,000 pending naturalization applications as of the end of last year, a more than 87 percent increase since 2015 under President Barack Obama, according to the report from the National Partnership for New Americans, an alliance of immigrants' rights groups.

The Trump admin has built a second wall that prevents legal immigrants in the U.S. from becoming voting U.S. citizens, Joshua Hoyt, executive director of the partnership, told NBC News.

He said the backlog at the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services means processing rates have reached as high as 20 months, raising concerns in a critical mid-term election year that some people will be unable to vote. Last year, over 925,000 people applied for U.S. citizenship, according to the report.

They may be waiting for as much of 20 months after submitting a 21-page application, paid the $730 fee, submitted their fingerprints for a security a check and then sat and waited to take an exam, he said.

This is either absolute gross incompetence affecting close to a million legal immigrants who want to become U.S. citizens, or it is an intentional second wall that is designed to slow the pace at which lawfully present immigrants can become voters, he said.

Neo-Nazi and Holocaust denier Arthur Jones is running for Congress on the Republican ticket this fall, much to the dismay of the GOP.

"I snookered them," Jones told Politico on Thursday. "I played by the rules, what could I say?"

Jones won the party's nomination in March when he ran unopposed for an open seat in Illinois' Third Congressional District. The Republican Party failed to put up a candidate to run against Jones, believing the heavily Democratic district to be unwinnable. Jones will be facing incumbent Representative Dan Lipinksi in the general election this fall.

Jones has run for several different elected positions over the past few decades but has never wonuntil now.

But for Republicans, the victory could not be coming at a worse time, as the party is gearing up for challenging midterm election cycle that could result in the establishment losing control of Congress to a Democratic majority.

GOP leaders have repeatedly denounced Jones and after his primary win, Tim Schneider, the Illinois Republican Party chairman, told The New York Times that the candidate is "a Nazi whose disgusting, bigoted views have no place in our nation's discourse."

But some fear that the party has not done enough to separate itself from Jones and fear that other Republican candidates will suffer election losses as a result. Senator Ted Cruz recently tweeted that Illinois voters should write someone else's name on the ballot or even "vote for the Democrat" rather than support Jones.

they should've just had anyone run against him instead of scrambling after he wins due to their negligence.

The funerals of 11 members of an extended family - 10 of whom were found hanging from the ceiling of their home in the Indian capital Delhi - will take place on Monday night following post-mortem examinations, police say.

Investigators have said the case could be one of "mass suicide linked to spiritual and mystical practices" based on some notes they found inside the house on Sunday morning. However, they have not yet ruled out murder.

These are the details so far about the case, which has gripped the country:

What do we know about the family?
The 11 dead are members of the Bhatia family. They include 75-year-old Narayan Devi, her daughter, two sons, their wives, and five grandchildren aged between 33 and 15.

All of them - apart from Narayan Devi who was lying on the floor - were found hanging from the ceiling of their home.

Their hands were tied behind their backs, and their eyes and mouths were covered with cloth.

The family lived in a three-storey house in Burari, a largely middle-class area of North Delhi. Though originally from the neighbouring state of Rajasthan, they had lived there for more than 20 years.

They operated two shops on the ground floor of their home - one sold groceries and the other sold plywood.

Was it murder or suicide?
We don't know yet.

The circumstances surrounding the death are all very mysterious.

The bodies were found by a neighbour, Gurcharan Singh, who was sent by his wife to check why the general store had not opened at its usual time.

Mr Singh was quoted by the Indian Express newspaper as saying that they had also thought it odd that the family had not switched on their water motor at 04:30 which they did every day.

"When I entered, all the doors were open and they were hanging from the ceiling. Their hands were tied. I was shocked when I saw so many bodies, so I rushed home and told my wife," he told BBC Hindi. The police say they were informed soon after and rushed a team to the spot.

can you imagine walking into a house and seeing something so horrific and creepy?

A six-year-old child in the US state of Indiana found a loaded handgun in a couch at Ikea and fired it, police say.

The weapon had fallen into cushions as a shopper sat down to test the sofa at the store in a suburb of the state capital, Indianapolis.

Nobody was hurt in Monday's incident and no arrests have been made. Ikea said it had expressed "sincerest apologies" to the child's family.

Police say the gun-owner did not notice he had dropped his firearm.

"He sat down and somehow or another it became dislodged from this body and when he got up he didn't realise that he was without it," Tom Weger of the Fishers Police Department told the Washington Post.

The owner continued shopping and only became aware he had lost his gun when he heard gunfire.

The child fired one shot into a sofa cushion after "just a few minutes" of playing with the weapon, Mr Weger added.

"As soon as he realised there was a commotion in the store, the gun-owner quickly identified himself.... and fully co-operated with the investigation," he continued.

In its statement, Ikea said the "safety and security of customers and co-workers is the top priority".

Ikea "has a no-weapon policy in our locations to prevent exactly these types of situations," their statement continued.

Lawyer Guy Relford told local station WTTV News the gun-owner was unlikely to face any charges.

he should face some kind of punishment for being so careless.

Honestly I don't know about what legal-based avenues you can take

But I do know that you can royally fuck this place over by contacting a lot of well known animal rights advocate groups, local community organizers, maybe even any community oriented local government workers. Basically activism.

i like this idea. put them on blast and let social media take care of it.

unfortunately, vets holding animals hostage isn't uncommon. i've never heard of vets taking in animals without the owners consent and then giving them shots, however. you probably have a good case to sue them, or you can at least threaten to sue them and see if they cave.

I love it. That is to say, I would love it if it were ever written to my tastes.

Unfortunately, it's all bestiality or fan fiction. Take a story involving a man and a horse. The mare in question is either going to be a whinnying barn animal or a character from My Little Pony. The latter's fine, but it's kind of a mental block when you know that character has never canonically been with a human being. The former isn't really my thing. I get grossed out when I read a story which goes out of its way to demonstrate how the lover is nothing but a brainless wild animal.

I'd like to read original stories where the fantasy animal has speech and human level intelligence. A knight decides to lay the dragon, a guy finds a passage to a veritable toon town and chooses the beautiful talking border collie over the impossibly stacked nurse, Santa's reindeer's daughter goes into heat and hooks up with a guy who's girlfriend dumped him just before the holidays.

I'd like something with an original character. Maybe a guy's on safari and has a chance encounter with a talking lion goddess or something.

you've put a lot of thought into this. you should pitch your idea to guillermo del toro. he'd love it.

Five Indian anti-trafficking activists performing a street play were gang-raped at gunpoint in the eastern state of Jharkhand, police have confirmed.

The women were forced into cars and raped in a "secluded area", police told BBC Hindi.

Police say they are investigating the incident but have not made any arrests.

The women were working with a non-governmental organisation (NGO) to raise awareness about human trafficking in the remote Khunti district.

About 40,000 rape cases were reported in India in 2016.

Many cases, however, are believed to go unreported because of the stigma that is attached to rape and sexual assault.

What happened to the five women?
"After performing, they headed towards a local mission school," senior police official AV Homkar told BBC Hindi's Niraj Sinha.

"Around the same time, some armed people reached the school. They abducted five girls from their team and took them to a jungle and raped them. We have dedicated three teams of police to interrogate several people.

Another police official told BBC Hindi the five women were now safe under police protection, awaiting the results of medical tests.

Officials believe the rapists could be supporters of a group that that is extremely hostile to "outsiders" entering the region.

The group, which enjoys popular support among the district's tribal population, has even put up signs warning visitors about entering the area.

will india ever properly address these problems?
