We usually game together every night and I noticed he didnt get on last night. He got on tonight and told me what happened. That girl he went on hits first date raped him. I was genuinely shocked and didnt know how to react. He said he took all the necessary measures but I genuinely dont know what to say to him or how to help him. I feel powerless and angry.

Im in my 30s and people ask this a decent amount of times. Roughly half the time, they seem to be practically offended when I say I dont want kids. It gets even worse if I give my reasons.

The two reasons are that kids are expensive and I like my freedom to do what I want. The faces I get for saying these things is just nasty at times. Like Im scum of the earth. I dont know why the idea that kids are expensive, which is factual, rubs some people the wrong way. The real one that gets people though is the freedom aspect.

It just makes people mad. I already know I will be severely limited when I have kids. I have a niece I spend a good amount of time with. Every time she is around, she follows me like a shadow and always wants to play. I do play with her of course. I dont want her to be sad or have people ignore her when they are tired. So I try to play with her so she wont feel neglected.

I cant imagine doing that everyday most of the day. It has to be exhausting and annoying to always sacrifice everything for your kid. Let me be clear, if I had a child, I would do that exact thing. It may be annoying but you are doing it for your childs happiness. That is far more important than your personal feelings on the matter. However, knowing the sacrifices to have a kid just from being an uncle, there is no way I want one. That experience had pretty much sealed the deal for me on that regard.

There is nothing wrong with wanting kids but there is no reason to get mad at other people for not wanting what you want

a counselor / social worker is supposed to cost $60 for an hour session, although some of them will try to charge you more

a psychiatrist (if you need to take medication) will cost $200 per hour

a clinical psychologist should be somewhere between $70 and $190

Wait so its a set price country wide for the most part? I never thought that would be the case or be they cheap to be honest

Ive felt like I should have went to a Psychologist years ago. However a few things stopped me. First off, Im pretty damn sure my insurance doesnt cover it. I havent checked in some years but I think it doesnt. Second was that since my insurance probably didnt cover it, its safe to assume the out of pocket cost is very high for this. Like bare minimum of $200 per hour type of thing.

This has always been an assumption. Maybe its better than I thought?

So first of all, I want try to be respectful here because your ignorance of these sorts of things isnt necessarily your fault. That said, let me set some facts straight for you: the Trans movement is not new. The trans community has literally existed for as long as the black community has. And it hasnt made quick progress. When Nazis began burning books, the very first place they went was to an institute that catered to gay and transgender people. Transgender people are still fighting for the same legal protections that black people have had for over 50 years at this point. It wasnt until 2015 that they were allowed to serve in the military. It wasnt until 2020 that the Supreme Court ruled they were protected from employment discrimination under the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Prior to that it was only illegal to fire someone for being transgender in 12 states. Numerous state laws have been passed within the past year alone that attempt to delegitimize the recognition of trans people and their legal rights.

What trans people do have that black Americans did not historically have while they were fighting for equal rights under the law, is the internet, and its capacity to build virtual communities where they can be accepted and supported. So when you see what seems like an explosion of trans acceptance and trans visibility in online spaces, you need to keep in mind that its still not safe to exist as openly trans in vast parts of the country. The few places that are safe (relatively speaking) have only become so in the past couple of decades.

So basically what youre witnessing right now is trans people going through what black people did in the 50s-60s. And if you think for a second that there werent black people back then who had no interest in pleading for white folks to understand their humanity and just accept them without constantly having to explain themselves and humanize themselves to placate the racism inherent to society, then I dont know what to tell you.

That is fair actually. I didnt do my research like I should have before posting that so I was indeed ignorant. Thank you for the history

I hate how this was a fascinating topic and it quickly devolved into people saying they dont have to answer the question, which is valid, so stop asking me. There are a few answers which is good but that mentality really hurts progress.

Im not Trans so I wont pretend I understand that aspect because I dont. I am black though so I can come at if for that angle. Someone mentioned earlier that they believe the Trans movement is quite young when compared to other movements. I agree with that. The progress also feels quite rapid in comparison to the black community. Sure you can decide not to have a discussion about being Trans. That is perfectly valid. However, you end up having people that are ignorant feel the knowledge of what they think they know about Trans people through stereotypes and Transphobia.

It took an insane amount of time for black people to have the progress we have. It wasnt that long ago that most people would look at black people, especially black men, as stupid, angry, law breaking, violent gangsters. After all these years, we have made significant progress but we are still fighting that narrative to this very day. This is something that we have been working on for over 100 years and people still think like this.

You cant shut yourself off from trying to help people understand then get mad at those same people when they have awful views of Trans people. Its a battle that always has to be fought with no end in sight.

That is my opinion anyway

Im finding myself in a weird situation. I have 3 different friend groups I play online games with. Different games of course. Im starting to run into an issue where everyone wants me to play with them but I have dont have the time especially since everyone usually plays roughly the same time. Im often forced to choose between who to play with and its just awkward. It feels like Im blowing people off to play with other people. Im having a hard time juggling everyone.

Anyone in a similar situation, how do you handle it? Do I just have to kinda schedule days ahead of time or something? That just seems so strange a weird just to play online games

The story is somehow worse than the previous game, and it's so easy it feels like a mistake, but nonetheless I enjoyed Sacred Stones.

And Seth is great. If you're gonna have a Jeigan, go all in.

Dont tell me that. I said it was underrated based on what Ive played at the beginning. I was hoping it wouldnt devolve into some shit show that I forgot about

EDIT: Looks like they nerfed Thrones too. They dont give back as much HP as before. This is more of a direct nerf to bosses than anything

I didnt really like the game that much because I thought it was easy. I havent played it in about 15 years. Decided to play it again.

I feel like I underrated story so far but the difficulty is even easier then I remember. I put it on the highest difficulty because I knew it was easy even though its been a long time. I remember being able to fight mobs and train indefinitely in the tower. I assumed that was the reason for its easy difficulty even on the hardest mode. Nope.

This game is embarrassingly easy even if you dont use any of those features. The hardest chapters usually are at the very beginning of the game for hard modes in FE games but this is like normal mode. Its nothing. Its an ass whooping express. The game will get easier the farther I get outside of maybe a chapter or two late in the game.

What were they thinking? I shouldnt have to do some weird challenge to make the game actually challenging. I dont remember how hard the endgame is but I bet its not much more difficult as the main game. Im sure its harder though because it cant get any easier

While you're making a fair point, you also have to consider that the way destiny vaults content means that new players legitimately can't start from the beginning and understand the story. That's not to say that destiny should start explicitly catering to new players, but if they only ever cater to the dwindling set of players that remain you won't get any more of that fantastic story either.

Well there is some interesting thing here. One being that they do have a timeline of events tab in-game that you can look at. It gives you a summary on what has happened for every expansion and key point of the story that has happened in Destiny 2. I think that is a very big feature for new players.

As for your second point, it logically makes sense. You would think that the player base will slowly fall more and more if the story only caters to the vets. However, the game has only grown its player base which is fascinating. Hell, Witch Queen had over 1 million preorders which I dont think has ever happened before.

Well, that's almost everybody gone.

Its been 7 years? I think? The game cant babysit every new player with an easy story to follow for people who havent played before anymore. I think that is for the better. It would limit how great the stories can be told. The story is at a level of the lore actually being put into the game as a story. Its fantastic

I know most of you were turned off by Destiny LONG ago but the game has finally improved to an insane degree. There are many great games released right now but if you ever get time, you should check it out. The campaign is, by far, the best Destiny campaign and its not even close. It is actually difficult at the higher difficulty and the story is the best that has ever been told as long as you have an idea of what is happening.

I need to change my sig now because its not embarrassing anymore to be playing Destiny 2. Its truly a great experience now. They have truly turned this franchise around.
