Thats not what I mean. Gran Maju is a cool deck, getting attack up to one hit levels is perfectly fine. Its Rhongomyniad turbo so you literally can't summon monsters. Or summoning True King of All Calamities turn one. That D/D monster that turns off all cards for the turn its summoned.

The only way to have a CHANCE of stopping these plays is draw the right combination of hand traps. Because all duels are single games you cant side deck either so its a toxic circle and has nothing to do with "new cards bad".

OTK means one turn kill, which generally just refers to being able to do 8k dmg in a single turn. If you're talking those like "can't play ygo" cards, the community usually calls them floodgate cards, even though cards older than Floodgate Trap Hole exist but are still ironically called floodgates lmao.

But yeah floodgate cards are generally hated by everybody, but sometimes they're a necessary evil. Ban them all, and you'll just see a bunch of other decks have no counters

Ranked mode in general is pretty ass. I really have no idea how long they are going to let OTKs be 75% of games. Not only that but the longer they let it go the harder it is to shift away. Any bans are going to mean a lot of wasted gems.

You mean like doing 8k dmg per turn? That's been YGO since like GX. Well there were talks of making LP 12000 etc during the 5D's era, but seems some community playtesting concluded the games take too fucking long for no reason. Generally if you're in OTK situation, you're gonna win the next turn most likely, so you're adding additional turns to lose slower.

I think the moment I stopped caring about ranked and just did a dumb throwaway game for my 3rd ranked of the day (doing the max gems from daily method which needs 3 ranked), I actually started enjoying the game more. The mid Gold area is generally pretty enjoyable. I think it's a bit too easy but more enjoyable

On my alt, I've been playing a bit of Gustos for old time sakes, and I didn't know they got new support, but the new supports are actually quite good. Gustos still have the effect of being able to have an out to just about any boss monsters, but they are still weak against multiple negations sad to say. I use a Windwitch engine to bait out negates or eventually summon my own negate in Crystal Wing. But it's quite fun when it goes off. I just need... called by the grave and like 5-6 other cards that I don't have on my alt

My packs were pretty dooky too and my only Sphreez is my crafted one. Didn't even give me Pilica's synchro. Either way, it also gave me a core for Ritual Beasts

Well Exodia decks have historically always been that way. Except in modern times, we actually have a counter, which is Ash, Effect Veiler, Impermanence, which are all stuff most decks should run and have a pretty high chance of drawing at least 1 of. You just negate their library and it's just gg.

Back in the days, Exodia decks didn't even let you respond whatsoever. YGO as a whole have always tried to shy away from consistent or difficult to negate FTKs to varying success. But Exodia decks have stayed for the entirety of the game's duration. Hard to say YGO is broken now when it's always existed, and Library has almost always been a huge part

Wasn't there some crazy item dupe glitches that they didn't fix for so long that the economy got totaled, but literally everybody did the glitch so basically those were the people who was still allowed to play the game without being screwed lol.

Maxx C is still the most polarizing card in the game it seems. There are legit arguments for both sides, and people have to accept that a card being in the meta and out of it just creates sideways changes, not up or down. Maxx C not being in the game just strengthens combo decks. It won't make the meta better. It's also not OP because plenty of decks atm just lay down a few monsters and end turn. Not much Maxx C does there aside from maybe being a 1 for 1

You can do some pretty nutty things with Six Sams still. Sadly the banlist is like a weird hybrid btwn TCG/OCG, and despite OCG having Gateway at 3 (I think? they certainly used to though) MD banlist has it at 1.

But when you draw gateway and it doesn't get Ash'd, you just won. Six Sams can still do infinite loops with Mizuho and Shinai, which you can eventually reach 5 materials with Rhongomyniad turn 1 and just essentially end the duel right there.

Her last stretch of performance was out of this world tbh. Like it really felt like she was just gonna reach in a few games. I dunno what happened but I feel like her change in strat to go for straight up 1v1 dominance and just in general aiming better than usual made her find her stride.

I watched her current run a few times and she was not playing to the level she was on that day, like not even close

I just caught Aqua getting Apex Master solo live. She absolutely deserved it. Was playing utterly out of her freaking mind imo. She started from 9100 and got to master, which is 10000. She played very differently from when I watched her last year, which she abandoned and ratted a lot for points. It's a valid strat but clearly there's a limit to it. This run, she decided to just high roll for a devotion and just win fights by herself. It was very effective

I don't watch her often, but as somebody who watched her fail her last attempt at this, it's definitely nice to see

Kinda sad but I guess there were too many cases of them being neglected or far too JP centric or the audience as a whole seemingly not gravitating towards syndications.

KR audience for Holo has been growing but it's weirdly been centered around HoloEN contents, while NijiKR streamers are finding more success just pandering to Koreans as Indies.

In terms of the Korean streaming sphere, I watch former League of Legends pros, like Ambition or Madlife, both of them being absolutely hysterical streaming prodigies, seemingly. I think KR style and JP style are fairly different in terms of streaming. It's hard to pinpoint what, but the contents they gravitate towards are so different that I think NijiKR as a sub-org just missed the spot so badly.

Bora was popular mostly because she spoke perfect Japanese and Korean, so even if NijiKR leaned heavily towards JP pandering, she could be successful. However, even she wasn't so successful that she could put her other priorities on hold, which is why she graduated

I think it's a cautionary tale on not half-assing shit, like when Niji just half-assedly re-labeled NijiIndia as NijiEN cuz most of them could sorta speak english. At this rate though NijiKR might be no more, then HoloKR that's inevitable will just take KR by storm

Decided to give Sky Striker a try. Absolutely love the "armor swap" mechanic and the spell arsenal. It's like if Mega Man X had an archetype.

Sphere Mode is probably more potent vs Drytrons. You really gotta get rid of quite a few of their board. Eva really needs to fucking go though goddamn

HEROs are actually viable for sure. They've actually seen some pretty good tournament results. You can get to Plat 1 with a lot of different decks right now, just varying amount of effort per deck

WEC is a bit rough around the edges, like the actual puzzle sections feel very rough and a bit simple at times. But the characters are all great, and you do feel very good by the end of it. It's way more chill and less complicated than his usual affair, but I enjoyed it a ton, and a few friends I recommended it to all liked it by the end.

I've read Ever17, all the Zero Escapes, and World's End Club. I've loved all of them pretty much.

I mean at the end of the day, this is still one of the higher budget Pokemon games with late but still more ambitious than usual gameplay. That's what they're gonna score on, not purely on the graphics or the fact that they stripped a bunch of other shit to make it possible, like abilities, most of the Pokemon, held items, etc. If you thought it was gonna get like a low score, then you're just being silly.

If anything, despite this fact that it got a middling 80's probably means it's not really gonna shake the foundation of Pokemon. This is probably not the BOTW Pokemon dream game that some people are expecting it to be. It's just your average day bland Pokemon game that never goes all the way because they'll still sell millions of copies.

A data is mostly as valuable as what they can be used to lead the person into buying though. If you sold your data with the promise of purchasing other services, they would probably be worth quite a bit compounded. When others sell your data, it's under the assumption that there's a risk of that data having no inherent value, but there is an expected average returns, so like if 100 data is sold and it can lead to avg 5 people buying into your shit.

Like medical data is important because of other things becoming necessities, and you can be the sole provider.

I wouldn't say private info is entirely a nebulous goods, just one that could have no value or a lot of value depending on context

There is a little panel you can click on the bottom right that shows all the effects that went off etc. Usually YGO effects on cards are separated by like on summon effect, continuous or trigger (like I'll declare using this now type) effect, and like when sent to ___ type of effects. You just have to know that summon related effects are on the top, continuous/trigger usually below that, and sent to gy effects near the bottom. So when something does something by doing something, you know vaguely where to look

You don't necessarily have to read everything most of the time

Sometimes you just gotta let them do their shit, lose, and just learn from it. I think the timer is way too generous for sure tho

Traps aren't exactly useless. There are really sacky game winning ones like Imperial Order, which is limited, infinite impermanence, by far the best trap in the game, or any of the floodgate stuff like Rivalry of the Warlord or the other one for the Attribute tend to be pretty powerful. Skill drain is also notoriously powerful and not banned in this format.

But in terms of general play, most of them are pretty unplayable. If they don't immediately wreck the opponent's field or do some hard negation and have like a bunch of insane graveyard effect, they don't see play

I dunno why I do this to myself but the Master Duel board is probably one of the whinest places I've been to in a while. Yeah some duels do take a while, but there isn't really a TCG right now that doesn't have long duels. You can also just have like a 2 turn duel in YGO where other TCGs don't even let you do that due to resources, so I dunno what they want the game to do exactly.

Also this whole talk about old YGO is funny because this "old YGO" never existed. In fact Synchro era is probably old YGO by now, and the combos were simpler to consume back in those days but the combos could range to just as long as they can be now.

It's also funny when they push back against hand traps when hand traps are the things keeping duels shorter. You interrupt the first card of a combo and there's a pretty high chance the combo ends there or is shortened quite a bit. There are a lot of skill aspect to interrupting the right card

And I say this as a guy who's just trash at the game atm. I don't know a pretty specific chunk of this or that era like most of Arc-V era stuff and late Vrains era, so I keep running into decks that I don't know how to disrupt. I might have the hand to win but I played like trash so I fucking lost. It's frustrating but there's space to learn. It's just a process and people just don't want to accept that it's their fault and they need to learn. It's not like I don't fully understand but their absolute lack of awareness is frustrating too when they just blame the game for everything

I don't think anybody thinks BW1/2 are technical marvels. It's honestly more the fact that there were clear effort involved, and they were honestly one of the best sprite workers in the industry. The biggest problem is almost none of that translated to their 3D efforts. There were so much outsourcing and general incompetence that was born from extremely late adoption. There was no guarantee that this company was gonna be good at 3D development, and lo and behold, they sucked ass since the 3DS days.

Also they initially got Genius Sorority to pick up the 3D slack, and Genius Sorority had a lot more talent in 3D back then than Gamefreak does now lmao. But it's unclear as to why they weren't allowed to create full on 3D campaigns ever since XD. Instead ever since then, they mostly ended up doing 2D puzzle games. Unclear as to whether or not GF took in some of the people but... it doesn't make sense they suck that much if they did, because Genius Sorority's Battle Revolution ended up looking more impressive than SwSh.
