Pokmon Legends is the breath of fresh air the series has needed for so long. I wasn't sure what to expect with Arceus, but the surprise was a pleasant one. There aren't any gyms or gym leaders, but I found plenty of tough battles. The graphics are pretty basic, but the character models all look terrific. Even the environments aren't so bad, as long as you're playing in portable mode. I was instantly hooked by the gameplay loop. Everything you do in the field feels so seamless, so smooth. This game makes Pokmon feel a bit dangerous, something I never thought was possible. If you were hoping for a traditional Pokmon experience, you'll be thrown for a loop. Keep an open mind however, and Pokmon Legends: Arceus will be a fantastic time.

Some of the new ideas in Arceus have rough edges, and it's slow to start before you get access to many environments and mounts. This is an awkward first step, and it was a big adjustment for me, a longtime fan of the series, to make. Once Pokemon Legends: Arceus finds its stride, though, it's the most daring and inventive the series has been in years, breaking apart the staid core and creating something new and exciting from its pieces.

One of my favorite N64 games returns beautifully remastered with tons of cut content restored into the game including new bosses and entirely new areas and extra collectibles to find. It's basically an M rated 3D Zelda with a large hub area that crosses the entire map and spokes off into smaller areas. In those smaller areas you find collectibles and upgrades to power up Shadow Man that let you open up other areas you couldn't access previously that contain more and more upgrades.

There's 120 Dark Souls and 666 Cadeaux to find in total throughout all the areas and for this platinum you need to find all of them as well as find all 18 hidden secret areas and also make it through the whole game without dying. That last one can be kind of annoying, but you can save whenever and wherever you want so I just saved after getting a good chunk of collectibles or before any dangerous areas that can kill you instantly and it was fine. Whenever I died I could just quit to the title screen and reload my save and it was like it never happened.

Anyway still a great game IMHO and this is the best version of that game now so check it out if you ever feel so inclined

but those Pixel Remasters will probably hit consoles sometime this year!

So I need to go ahead and thank all the time I put into the original Windjammers because what took me several months to plat in that game took me a single day to pull off in the sequel.

Windjammers 2 introduces a few new mechanics to the gameplay that makes it less of a fun party game with fighting game mechanics to more definitely in that "this is a game for serious fighting game fans" type of game. Beyond that it's essentially a remake of the original game with a new art style, more playable characters and more courts. Finishing Arcade Mode on Hard is still ridiculously difficult, although maybe a tad easier now just because it's only 5 stages instead of 6 and if you play well you can earn up to 3 extra continues (you start with 0). I still needed all of those continues in my final match though to pull it off.

I'll still be playing online for sure from time to time although it's not super active on PS4 because you have to buy it there while it's free on Game Pass, but hey I'm 9-0 so far in online matches so I'm not going to complain @_@
