Reddit is good for sharing information about a specific topic or game, but the upvote system and nested conversation structures are garbage.

This. Go to reddit for information or answers to questions. Don't go to share opinions, because the down/upvote system which is meant to fish out trolls will just be used to put out hot takes.

But we're dying. Discord is ok if you like private chat, but not topics. (Doesn't matter if it's set to the topics setting) Facebookers tend to be 95% braindead. Twitter is filling up with Nazis. Other forums are deader.

Discord is an unorganized mess where you can discuss things but trying to channel a school of thought is very ostracizing. The ability to create topics would be so nice lol can't just bring up the shifting values of a game's dev company over time mid-conversation.

Facebook is casual heavy but once in a while you'll find a good group. The Switchposting group has comedic value on par with this website, I'd say. A lot of groups also have the ability to post anonymously, if you don't wanna link your personal information with your controversial video game posts

Twitter is always angry or looking to be upset about something. It's hard to discuss there, either 0 traction or too much.

It kinda sucks. GameFAQs is dwindling but most message boards are. Something I'll really miss about this website is how well documented thoughts and feelings were about games/news past.

There arent many turn based RPGs that are commercially successful and notoriously difficult. Fire Emblem got a lot more popular when they added casual mode because the permadeath was an intimidating mechanic

you make a good point. fire emblem also got more popular when it introduced romancing, as the persona series did too. maybe SMT V should let people take home Nuwa.

nah man no alts here. funny enough, I signed up for this website when I wanted to discuss Devil Survivor 2 and those mfs like MetalLoki and HermeticJustice (long gone) convinced me to play Strange Journey. I only post to CE now because it's the last board that gets attention at the rate most used to.

Why though? Because of the UI? Because of the lack of voice acting or animated cutscenes? Idk Persona 3 has more than Nocturne but it also came out years later. I guess if you were to look at something like Persona 5 vs SMT V, then yeah.

The monster raising mechanics are not deep or interesting. Its just going through menus and choosing to fuse a monster with another to make the next better one.

Another point for Pokemon where you can name, dress and travel alongside the mons. But it ain't my fault no one bought Demikids

I will say that the demons having dialogue is an underrated aspect of SMT, they say incredibly unhinged shit and it's funny

I had never played an Elders Scroll so my first playthrough I didn't even understand quest markers. I ended up confused in DC before ever reaching Megaton.

This. I've never played any bethesda game unless you count doom but I stepped outside the vault and walked around, fought some insects and now just found the town megaton. still don't know what I am supposed to be doing though

The game doesn't really explain how the equipment system or any of the menus work and I'm sort of confused. I struggled trying to figure out the computer hacking and lock picking and I told my friends and they were like "lol we beat that when we were 12." I've never played any Bethesda game before, so maybe I'm missing out on the Todd Howard language or maybe I am just stupid. Any tips or tricks for a first time player?

Does it hold up in 2024? Which to start with?

I don't get the hype, I've put 10 hours in and made 15 Mii's but every time I open the game it just feels like they have chores for me to do. Once in a while the game will say something funny but tbh this seems extremely tedious and/or content light
