Whether not starting those wars is smart or not we will only know in hindesight

China is bad, but other than Taiwan(which don't get me wrong is awful) I don't see them being a threat. NK is awful but unless they get their act together or get some help will never be a threat except on their border.

Russia is unhinged, because Putin is unhinged. Ideally Russia should be stopped from within, but we need to defend our allies until that point. I'd rather no war, and I won't support pushing into Russia, but I firmly believe we should be helping stop the push.

It boggles my mind Germany tried to get them too, but Germany was not exactly known for smart decisions at the time.

Did Mexico even have an army capable of threatening the US at the time? Would this be as clear a win for the US as I'm thinking? Would it have led to a different outcome in WW1 as the US would no longer be sending troops?

I can agree there, WW2 was a much different conflict. But WW1, if we'd have sent troops earlier, we'd have SIGNIFICANTLY improved it and prevented tons of deaths, including Americans. Instead Wilson was delusional throughout regarding how the war would play out, and how far Germany would go. Even after the Lusitania sunk, we didn't enter the war for two years, and we responded to a German threat to sink even neutral ships in the war zone with "nah they're bluffing this time".

sure, but it'll affect us long after it affects them. they're the neighbors, they have armies, no reason for us to send our people to die in something halfway around the world. that part of the world can deal with their shit first, if they need help then it's a conversation to be had. otherwise, nope.

Except their quite literally is a reason. We can make a bigger impact than they can, and faster. We should've learned this lesson as far back as WW1, but we really didn't.

Send other aid too, but troops are what's really needed and would end the conflict MUCH quicker.

Our allies are being victimized by a warmonger and losing the fight, and it's going to get significantly worse if Russia wins. We should be sending troops to Ukraine to fight.

Just finished Dead Wake by Erik Larsen(amazing book about the sinking of the Lusitania), which got me thinking about how both WW1 and 2 saw American intervention only after the bad guys(and yeah, even in WW1 Germany were explicitly the bad guys even if Britain was pretty shit too)directly threatened them, in WW1 through Germany attempting to scheme an invasion through Mexico, and WW2 through Pearl Harbor.

WW1 seems especially questionable to me - I understand wanting to stay Neutral, but Germany were doing some horrific shit, and unlike WW2 it was pretty abundantly clear that if the US were to enter, the war would end much quicker, with far fewer dead. So do you think they should have?

Helldivers 2, incredible game and my current GOTY pick. Its live service elements actually serve the game well, with devs creating missions and an actual ongoing war to fight, rather than just a story mode.

Absolutely. Season 1 is almost bad in comparison to the whole show. And season 1 rocks.

Finished it with the wife and I have no words that do it justice, the characters, story, and acting are all incredible across the board. Go watch it.

No. All Boeing planes is such an overreaching stretch when the problems reside in conceptual design bulls*** on specifically planes developed after the MCD merger. Which is basically just the 787 (which has been absent in recent discourse) and the MAX.

Except that's not the problem. It's not just a bad design. It's a company wide issue. It's them lying, breaking the law, murdering, and destroying evidence all for more profits and higher shares.
