Losing interest at the end is fair because that's pretty much why most people are sort of lukewarm on ZTD!

Also a couple people alluded to it, but you can go back and plug "Delta" into the standoff scene, and Sean turns and shoots the camera. That's how I got the Delta reveal.

But yeah ZTD is extremely interesting up until the ending where the plot twist is very "twist for the sake of twisty" and then also doesn't pay off almost anything VLR set up (and that's not even getting into the secret after-ending scene in VLR they added and then did nothing with AT ALL in the international release).

It's a shame it ends so poorly!

Yeah recording people without their consent isn't even illegal in a lot of US states. In fact its good practice if you ever get in a confrontation with bosses or coworkers because it can potentially help your case in employment issues (as long as you make sure its legal in your state, first).

And according to Selen, she didn't even do that. It was leftover test recordings she didn't even realize she still had. I mean, sure that might be a lie I suppose, but I'm inclined to believe her version of events so far because Niji has both provably told several lies but also changed their story several times. Selen hasn't.

That said, Selen absolutely went around management and they probably had good reason to fire her. Them firing her isn't the issue, it's everything about HOW they did it. Hell, it could probably even be said to be expected for an employee to break the rules if the rules are stupid and abusive, which seems to be the case here.

I finally got around to finishing all the Companion Quests and boy I feel like I need a chart of exactly what happened and who was involved in the Imbibitor Lunae stuff because I still don't feel like I understand what happened lol

Fu Xuan one of my most wanted characters so far so I will be rolling on her for sure.

I can't imagine not getting every chest and doing every quest and getting to the end of the game and NOT thinking "damn I should've gotten all the chests".

Its definitely kind of crazy how differently the Mel and Selen things went when, by broad strokes, they did very similar things wrong that led to their firing (I mean what they did is different technically, yeah, but both basically ignored the rules and got fired for it). Mel got amicably let go and had multiple talents and the CEO wish her well. Selen got harassed, unpersoned for a month, and drug through the mud by management and multiple talents.

Hell even Rushia got treated better by Cover than Selen did by Niji and Rushia was absolutely the 'bad guy' in that scenario.

It just speaks volumes about Niji's corporate culture.

Yeah this really sucks to hear, especially only 2 months out from Eiyuden.

Similarly, while I enjoyed the likes of Final Fantasy and other series, Suikoden always meant more to me than those. It was probably the first RPG series I really fell in love with, and in some ways I've always been chasing something that hits the same as it did.

I hope Eiyuden finds immeasurable success and if there is some kind of afterlife, he's able to see it from there. RIP.

The story ends up being about the world, yes, but it doesn't start or progress that way for the majority of it. Its pretty railroaded on being about both Serge and Kid's personal plots for over 2/3rds of the story and the cast doesn't even know there's anything more going on. Most of the cast has no reason to actually care, and that's not even getting into the truly random party members like Skelly, Starky, and Turnip that join just... because.

...Okay I might take that back reading up on some people dissecting it a bit more.
If they're actually trying to loophole abuse with their talents alleging things not 'technically being illegal' like some people are saying, it actually makes them look far scummier than even before.

That's a lot of words he said that basically just amounted to "I'm sorry we were caught doing anything wrong and promise we won't be caught doing it again".

Well its just literally the same thing as any other brand. The more well known the brand is, the more popular. Like if someone gets hired by Nintendo to make a video game vs trying to make it on their own.

There is a certain expectation of quality that comes with the brand.

The Japanese side especially sucks because a lot of people in Japan are very pro-corporations due to their culture. There was a lot of Japanese Niji fans weighing in on twitter etc saying they don't understand what English fans problem is about the incident and that "of course if you don't comply you will get terminated, even a child knows that" and such.

The same thing any kind of talent agency does. You get their established brand attached to you, which gives you a meteoric rise in popularity (even the least popular corporate vtubers tend to be very successful vs struggling to make a name for yourself for years that a lot of indies do- as a quick numbers example, the latest Hololive English wave, Advent, had their debuts watched by several tens of thousands of people and had several hundred thousand subs within a week). Furthermore, they line up brand deals and opportunities for you to promote yourself (convention appearances, songs, etc) as well as dealing with any legal issues that arise on your behalf (though lol in this particular case, that is how it is suppose to work).

Like just as an example to the people that don't really follow the situation, they released a 2 line statement to their shareholders that only said this:

That's it. They've never released a statement like that on a termination before. This is after someone tried to *kill herself* and they *admitted there was internal bullying* going on.

Even Raka's post doesn't really convey the full story of how monumentally they've bungled things. This is truly one of those "will be taught in law school as an example of what not to do" situations.

Also yes their stock prices have been in freefall for the past week because of this. They've lost 10% market share last I heard.

Yeah its... its a LOT to try and summarize everything they've done, but suffice to say Nijisanji has gone out of their way in handling this matter to live up to every single 'mustache twirling evil corporate overlord' stereotype you can possibly think of.

The most recent thing the topic is referring to is they had 3 of their other talents make a PR statement for them about the situation. Which, in and of itself is a big 'ole red flag (why are you involving 3 other talents in this shit storm instead of handling it yourself with your PR and legal teams?) but they also self-implicated that they shared confidential legal documents with other 3rd parties during it.

And I don't even know what the point of the video was! It didn't even really make Selen/Doki look bad. Oh no, she recorded a coworker without their knowledge to cover her own ass, what a horrible person! That's the best they could come up with??? Really??

This whole situation seriously reads like someone inside Nijisanji is intentionally choosing the worst thing possible to do at any given moment and time and telling everyone "go do that" on purpose.

You can play 2 standalone technically (the overall main story is stand alone) but it has characters and a few minor plots that return from 1 that enhance the overall experience if you know about them beforehand.

The Suikoden series is basically a series of wars taking place in different countries in the same world at different points in time. Some characters are travelers that happen to get involved in multiple ones, some influential characters have their fingers in the pies of multiple countries, etc.

There is also technically a meta-plot binding it all together as well going on in the background but sadly it never got resolved before the series essentially got soft canned by Konami being Konami.

Oh and to kind of expand on the "Why does Suikoden's massive cast work for it but not Chrono Cross's" discussion- Suikoden's storylines are specifically framed as macro storylines that affect entire countries. While the core story may involve the main characters the most, they're not the only ones that have reasons to participate in the conflict- armies are formed, cities are invaded, and life is generally upended for everyone, even regular NPCs. This is not the case for Chrono Cross. Chrono Cross's storyline is generally very personal to the protagonist and their friend group with little immediate effect on the wider world, and many characters just join you 'because they can'. They don't really have a stake in anything or reason for coming along, they just do, with little if any reason given.

I do like Chrono Cross personally, but that game has a lot of flaws.

Finished all the events now (aside from a few challenge fights in Foxian Tales and the Boulder Town Arena I'm having trouble with).

Yeah as far as I can tell from reading up on things since I started almost a month ago there mostly is only 'Really good', 'Good', and 'Less good' in the game right now. Nobody is a dud and everyone can at least slot into an endgame team even if they aren't ideal.

There's even a couple people I've seen doing no-warp playthroughs just using the units the game gives out for free and clearing the end game content (with difficulty, but they are)

Eh it probably doesn't matter much. I'm tempted to roll til pity now since I'm at 60... I'm trying really hard not to roll on every single cute girl banner like I do on FGO... and failing miserably so far haha

My personal criteria for 'is it a VN or not?' is based on reading and also if the main point of the game is the reading or not.

IE I considering the Utawarerumono series a VN but not, say, GBA/GC era Fire Emblem, despite both having strategy RPG gameplay with dialogue segments using still portaits between them, because you can literally go hours in Utaware without combat at times but FE will usually only be a half hour or so at most.

FE wants to keep you 'in the gameplay' with story interludes whereas Utaware wants to keep you 'in the story' with gameplay interludes.

That said that kind of breaks down for ZTD in particular because while I would say the story is front and center and not the gameplay, it also doesn't expect much reading- there's little non-voiced text. I don't believe you generally get any character thoughts or monologues, or descriptions of things or actions that you must read.

So personally, I don't consider ZTD a VN.

Okay now that you read that I'll say yeah, that one had me stuck for a bit too when I played through on release and I ended up having to look it up, but you absolutely do have the information to "solve it" right now.

Yeah he already is one of my hardest hitters on single target. Of who I have (and have built), only Dr. Ratio and Sushang do more ST damage.

I ended up going with Lil' Gui though.

Hmmm a 4 star selector.

I have all 4 of the characters, they're all E0. I think its probably between an E1 of Sampo or Guinaifen for me, and I'm leaning Gui even though so far I've used Sampo more (he's my most built wind character). Mostly because Sampo is on Sparkle's banner so I might get him there, but also her E1 seems better just comparing the two.

I'm pretty sure he's even said in an interview he thinks side quests should be annoying to do at some point when someone brought it up to him? Too lazy to look it up, though.

He's a bit of a troll and a bit insane.

I don't think most side quests go away with progression so you can definitely feel free to save them for later. I remember that parade one being quite hard, too.

Yeah there is definitely fast travel but it takes awhile to get.

Speaking of relics I got my first small taste of bad relic RNG already (since I didn't get to that level in Genshin and haven't really dealt with it in Star Rail so far)

Every single one of the 5 star relics I got from exploration in Penacony have been absolute ASS starter stats. Like I got multiple +Outgoing Healing +HP +Effect Res and the like on the follow up attack set chest piece.

Awesome my Dr.Ratio and Himeko will love the buff to the healing they clearly do or my Bailu will love the follow up attack boost, cool.
