I came to a realization after a game today.
I've had several games with Amumu where we under perform early-game but end up winning 40+ minutes in.
I now believe that my team is suffering early game because I am a poor jungler. Yes, I can clear the jungle, and yes, my ganks result in kills more often than not.
But, many times, the solo lanes suffer due to my absence, and I don't notice. This can be fixed by better map awareness.
The second problem is not so simple: after the initial jungle clear, I start to fall behind in CS and levels. I think this is because it takes me forever to go places and people are usually whining for me to cover lanes, a fight breaks out, or something. Basically, there are lots of distractions and I fall behind on keeping every camp dead all the time. My being behind makes the whole team weaker in the teamfight phase, which results in less money for the team, which means we either lose or games are dragged out until we can build up enough farm.
So, I need to be able to get more camps while still doing the jungler jobs. I'm not sure how yet, though. It's probably a pathing and positioning problem on my part.
