| Topic | Angry Joe is absolutely furious about Star Trek: Section 31 (Spoilers I guess) |
| tankboy 02/02/25 12:31:18 PM #28: | TNG was all about being DEEP, so deep that it excused the bad acting and bad effects. It was weekly episodes of alien-personification-of-freshman-philosophy that would be watchable in any order, if it wasn't for minor cast changes. Yes, I know the same can be said for TOS. Discovery gets crap, but I love that they ended up solving everything by Federationing even harder. It's like the hokiest parts of Trek, but played straight. I get it. Lower Decks is awesome because they take all those throw-away TNG aliens/tech/ideas and show how ridiculous it would be if they actually existed for longer than a single episode, but yet that's somehow the one thing they don't make fun of directly. Section 31 was good. It's not amazing, but it was exciting and fun. A few neat concepts introduced, some mirror-universe world-building, and an explanation for why we can basically ignore it later. I hate the ending of Picard. That ruined the whole series for me. I was a fan until then, but now I think it's the worst Trek. I might be able to be convinced that it was meta-commentary on the disconnected episodic nature of TNG, but I don't think that's the case. ... Copied to Clipboard! |
