I don't know, it's hard to say when that shift came for me. I suppose it's a matter of finding a style of humor that works for you, absorbing it from examples you appreciate and learning to emulate it naturally. Let it become part of who you are.

I've always been said that, "He doesn't say much, but when he does, it's a winner". So I guess I do best by taking people by surprise and saying something they don't expect. Dry humor works really well for me, too. People have said they don't know when I'm joking or not because of my delivery.

Worst thing you can do is force it, though. Super cringe. I think confidence and humor are synonymous, or at least coexist. You can say the same words and have it be funny or unfunny depending on how you deliver it.
