I agree that Islam is a blind spot among... well, just about everyone who isn't one, and leftists have overcorrected themselves and taken pro-immigration and pro-diversity values to the point of being pro-Muslim, simply on the (correct) basis that immigrants and foreigners are unfairly discriminated against.

I also think it's not secularists' place, regardless of political leaning, to critique a religion that they haven't studied. To be clear, you don't need to be an expert on Islam to condemn violent extremism in Nigerian culture, but I'd hesitate to blame the Quran for it, because scripture is meaningless without people to interpret it. The old testament has plenty of stuff in it that's absolutely atrocious at face value, but modern Judaism is able to reinterpret, recontextualize, and dance around it in ways that make no damned sense to anyone that isn't part of the community and isn't meant to.
