He's a progressive Christian and marries his religion and policies quite well, imo. He's been quickly gaining prominence in Texas over the last year or so and when you hear him speak it's obvious why. Texas politics are different from the politics of deep blue states, so when you have a candidate like this who has great policy positions and can speak to a broader electorate in the state, it's important to take note.

He's running for Senate against longtime TX senator Cornyn, and will be going up against failed Senate candidate from the last cycle Collin Allred in the primary, presumably. I know the prospect of Texas turning blue has become a meme at this point, but this is a candidate who can actually push through imo (beto had a national profile but was DOA in Texas because of his gun stance, Allred turned out to be another scared Republican light democratic candidate whose main campaign message was "I played in the nfl").

I initially discovered James this last summer when a THC ban was proposed by the state government and he was a strong advocate against the ban (the bill was ultimately vetoed).

I hate that I went to the comments section for that first one. My brain hurts.
