Also, there's a pretty noticeable difference between just having conservative views and supporting Trump, so again let's not make this a right vs. left thing.

So much THIS

Also, it's not Republicans with approval polls in the shitter. It's Trump. Vast majority of Americans disapprove of him.
Very good point. But as mentioned the partisan politics of the US have bred an us vs them mentality between the two parties that keep people judging and entire group by the vocal minority. And most of the time in a group the most vocal are the minority. So the sane party members of each party don't have to scream about internet typos and scoops of ice cream because the founding fathers set up a system to keep corrupt individuals out. How many people that voted for Nixon actually followed him down the rabbit hole? We might know better if there was internet in the 70's.

Have you seen the newspaper articles about things Nixon supporters say? It's almost word for word what Trump supporters are using as defense

Thanks for that. But as I said was this a majority of the people that voted for Nixon at the start. Like I feel there are far less people still supporting Trump than those that still support him. So lumping all voters/Republicans with Trump supports is being somewhat dishonest. Unless there's stats to tell me otherwise. Personally there's a huge gap in the people I know that voted for him and still support him.
