Higurashi released Episode by Episode, but was much cheaper per game and came out far after the Japanese one was written. How Ryuukishi has always done it for initial releases is release one Episode at a time, but every subsequent Episode contained the previous up through the end of each 'arc' (as in, Umineko 1-4 was bundled and 5-8 was bundled, but when 1 came out it was just 1, when 2 came out it was 1 and 2, etc). But they'd all be the same price. It is indeed a big financial ask. Japanese people are used to paying that much money for things (seriously, look up the prices of anime and movie releases of BluRay etc over there- they're like 8,000+ yen) but most of the rest of the world isn't. You almost can't even launch a Steam VN in English that's even 30-40+ hours long at full game price in the west, much less a shorter one. ... Copied to Clipboard! |
