It's not just that: Democrats are held to a much higher standard in the media. This helps create "balance". And, specifically with regards to Fetterman, there's a lot of really gross ableist beliefs on display, that him having auditory processing issues and occasional difficulty translating his thoughts into words (both common, well-documented after-effects of strokes) is some huge scandal that makes him mentally unfit for office. If he were Republican, it would be no big deal: the media didn't make a big deal out of Mark Kirk or John McCain having a stroke.
Or Herschel Walker being Herschel Walker.

And God forbid if you're left of the mainstream Democratic Party. That bar is out by Uranus!
