The man rode to stardom by being a trust fund kid buying his way onto company boards, getting ousted, and using buyout profits to buy new positions. Zip2, X.com/paypal, tesla, all the same. He shows up, writes his name on a successful product, makes some "for the people" claim, then dips. He's the definition of that kid who shows up on the due date of a group project to write his name on the top.

And he mythologized himself so hard that he actually started believing it, himself. And now the truth of what he is is on full display, for all to see: a guy ousted from multiple boards whose products all became successful in spite of him.

Elon Musk resonates with societal failures of men because they can relate to and identify with him being an "ideas guy" that became successful due to sheer luck and coming from existing wealth; blood money, no less.
