I think it's funny how the topic went into a "duh, why should we talk to the right wing nazis?" when my first image of echo chambers were the covid deniers and anti-vaxxers.

But yeah, in general, the issue is simple.

People don't want to discuss things, they want to hear how right they are, so they look for people they agree with and agree with them.

The result is a circle of a selected few (can be tens, can be thousands), enforcing their own view again and again, spiraling downwards because they blindly trust people they otherwise agree with.

And woosh, suddenly your "I'm not sure if the vaccine is save, let me take a look if others agree with me" get's step by step enforced into some "blabla, gen-experimental therapy, sheeding, population control" conspiracy bullshit.
