"This is all really caused by Texas" is not really a valid point of concern even though it has added to the stress because even if they did absolutely nothing, 97k+ would have still come here because everybody knows NYC is the only place on the entire planet that is required to house you due to a right to shelter law meant to help homeless people from the 30s.

If you honestly think Abbott is the one to tell them this, then you need to go outside, touch some grass, and then meet some actual migrants. It's all over social media in these countries and all the cartels know about it.

Honestly, if you don't live here, this doesn't affect you, so obviously it's easy to say "help them no matter the cost". Just stop unless you can provide some proof you're putting up your own money to help them instead of expecting others to.

"May haves" are meaningless for confirmed numbers of acceptances. A bit over 60% declines is still the official number.
