Committing murder means one of two things about one's mental health: Either one lacks impulse control, or one carries a callous disregard for human life. Neither of those traits scream "moderate republican." While I could have specified "political beliefs," I just assumed that was implicitly understood. A person's willingness to commit murder may tie into their personal beliefs -- although even then it can be a wholly impulsive act fueled by substance abuse (albeit you could argue that underpinning beliefs led to that abuse) -- but it generally has little bearing on their politics. Murders are committed by individuals whose political beliefs span the entire spectrum. More importantly, extreme views in one direction don't even necessarily signify a personal creed in that same direction -- keep in mind that Senator Lee of California, a staunch anti-gun democrat, was busted for trying to sell guns to a terrorist group.
