Topic	If everyone wants 'thing' legal, why is it still illegal?

Secondary to that, I'd also rather the money go to new roads or hospitals than terrorists and gangsters :P Why do people who love pot recreationally have to talk about it so much? My one buddy in particular, who I don't talk to as much these days for unrelated reasons, always brings it up no matter where the conversation was going. What is the motivation? I'm not trying to be a jerk or argue about it, I honestly want to know why it's such recurring topic.
