Well if someone has broken into your house and you're half asleep, you're probably not gonna follow their commands and will probably hide. I'm not aware of if the victim had a warrant or something, but I doubt he did so he wouldn't expect cops at all in that case. There is another possibility that she might have been investigating a possible situation if she noticed that the door was ajar and got overzealous.
