The New Deal had mixed results but no one can dispute that unemployment was still awfully high during it's implementation. He forced thousands of Japanese Americans into internment camps early in WW2 but felt okay with letting German and Italian Americans serve. In what can only be described as a power play, he tried to stuff new seats into the SCOTUS and fill them with yes-men.
