Obamacare became very popular when republicans were planning to get rid of it, and it is absolutely the major reason democrats won 2018 as handily as they did. The entire focus was on healthcare, and we swept up a bunch of reds seats because of it. That doesn't mean we shouldn't try to improve it, and Sanders plans are popular within the democratic base.
