It's a beam all right. And it's often coming from a triangle. No false advertising here.

I have two specific complaints about this. First off -- why can't we usually see the beam? Toriyama, is it really that difficult to use yet another goddamn beam in your show but make it into a triangle? I have to dock points for "usually can't see the damn thing" again. Yeah, you can see it briefly in the later ones of that compilation, but it might as well just be "a beam" in those. The Cell one feels like it should be how the tri-beam actually works since it has the rapid-fire ability that feels signature to it... but they aren't going to show it to us. Wtf.

Now for the second complaint: It never. Ever. Works. I think there was exactly one time in DBZ where the tri-beam did a damn thing that would make it feel like a "finisher." I guess it smacked Cell down a bunch of times as he was trying to fly back up. Part of that is just because of how DBZ works; enemies in this show have obnoxious durability that humans aren't allowed to beat because it always has to be a Saiyan (or occasionally Namekian) to save the day. How am I supposed to score it high on Dominance when it's never really dominant? I'm giving it come brownie points because against reasonable foes, this would probably mess them up given how much environmental damage this can cause. But Tien never gets to fight reasonable foes. Because DBZ.
