Scooby-Doo and the Cyberchase (8 points) Nominated by: NFUN (4/5 remaining) Importance: 3.5 Fear: 1.5 Snake: 3 Scooby-Doo and the Cyberchase is the 4th direct-to-video Scooby-Doo movie and in terms of the franchise, was a series of lasts for the Mystery, Inc. Gang. It was the last Scooby production to be produced by Hanna-Barbera, the last time Scott Innes voiced Shaggy and Scooby-Doo, and the last film B. J. Ward voiced Velma. If you're a big Scooby-Doo fan, this would be a drastic shift for your favorite franchise for sure. I do appreciate Scooby-Doo as a franchise for what it accomplishes, but personally I've never really been into it. Cyberchase is a serviceable but forgettable extended Scooby-Doo episode, backed up with a gimmicky "video game level" set-up, which I kind of remember a lot of shows doing when I was a kid but I don't really have examples I can think of unfortunately. I'm sure a lot of people remember this movie for the villainous Phantom Virus, and I can see why he would stick out in people's minds. It was actually a trend for early Scooby-Doo video features to actually portray real supernatural threats instead of common criminals, in an attempt to garner a darker tone; Phantom Virus still errs on the lighter side of things, but I've seen a lot of people claim they got nightmares from him as a kid so he does have some horror weight to him. Cyberchase won't be winning any awards but as an end of an era for Scooby-Doo and with at least a somewhat remembered antagonist, it can still stick out in the Scooby-Doo canon for many a fan. --- If the suspense doesn't kill you, something else will! http://tinyurl.com/zqwzc9a - https://imgur.com/a/OcdhKKR ...
