Like, did they crush your soul? Or key your car? Or cheat on you?

My ex from manyyyyy years ago, (like 15 years ago, in fact it was the girl I lost my virginity to) was a few years older than me... and was extremely emotionally and physically abusive. I didn't know it at the time, because I was "in love" and thought it was normal. And for the physical abuse part, I get hard when a girl slaps or punches me. It wasn't until later that I came out of my tunnel vision and realized it wasn't right the way she treated me. I carried baggage from her in to a few relationships after, but I matured and grew much more healthy mentally and stable by the time I started dating my (now late) wife.

Just a few examples:

*I told her I might be dyslexic and I should take a test, and she said "You better, because I'm breaking up with you if you are because I don't want handicapped (the r-word) children."
*I yawned after sex and she made me sleep on the couch because that meant her "sex bored me."
*She demanded I get a job, so I got a job working the go-kart tracks nearby and she said "GOD, I'm dating a 16 year old that works at a Family park and I could be with a 20 year old construction worker."

Man. I'd still take a bullet for her, because I do love unconditionally, but I am so glad I got out of that hell, and I hope she has grown up and become a better person for whoever she is with now.
