Yeah, the weapon is magical, but just acts as a normal weapon for now, and until the DM feels like I should get a better weapon basically. I know this DM though, and he is very loose with magical weapons (you can basically buy a +1 magical weapon with your starting gold as soon as you hit any town)...so it's actually more of a limitation for my character then a bonus. Warhammers are his gods chosen weapon though, and I'm playing it as him inheriting his mothers weapon since she (and her people) were slaughtered.

He isn't chosen though, or even a high priest etc, just this was my way of describing him coming into his powers and becoming a cleric. Hearing/listening to the stones is the way he prays and receives his spells.

Also, the group (not just the DM, it's a Coalition of 5 or 6 dnd groups run by different DMs in a same campaign and over all theme) have crazy rules for rolling your char so they are all very powerful. I'm limiting that at least a bit by taking penalties to my int/wis rolls based on his age.

The warhammer is for theme, not for a combat advantage, and I'll make sure the DM knows that. I'm also going to probably restrict the armor he can wear, requiring him to have it made specially or upgrading his current scale male (which he got from his people before leaving). This prevents him from getting full AC bonus from his dex now, and later, from getting +1 etc armor while the other players can easily do that.

He still does have avenues of advancement with eq though, as he will use a shield (so he can get magical shields), and he can get amulets/rings etc like everyone else (may have to wear only 2 rings max, on his pinkies though hehe...maybe on his baby toe and cna wear 4 that way?).

His AC (with his shield) isn't horrid at 18, but...again, I know this DM and he often has enemies that hit AC 20 fairly easy, even in the low levels (compensates for high stat characters with high AC and to hit enemies).

Should be a challenge, but he does have healing word and shield of faith, along with automatically getting divine favor (from war domain). He also gets 2 chances to attack twice a round per long rest with a bonus action). This gives him some oomph early on. He could for instance use shield of faith as his bonus action and attack the first round, then use divine favor and attack the second round, then use his ability to attack twice in a round (both getting the divine favor bonus damage) two times in a row if needed. He can always use healing word as a bonus action instead if someone needs it badly as well.

So basically he has a use for his bonus actions for quite a few rounds, making him fairly effective. He can buff any of his companions skill rolls unlimited times with a cantrip, and cast pass without trace on the party (bumping their stealth significantly) as well.

His Bio mainly was to flush out his backstory and make him unique and not just another random cleric:)
