I'm sitting at a coffee shop doing some work and an older woman, a mom, and her two young kids (probably 2 and 4 or so) came and sat in the seats nearest to me in the coffee shop. The kids were being pretty loud (as to be expected from little kids) so I put my headphones on. Immediately I hear "Excuse me, excuse me!" and realize the mom is talking to me. I take my headphones off.

Mom: Are we being too noisy for you?
Me: No its ok, I can just put my headphones on
Mom: I am so so SORRY that my kids are such an INCONVENIENCE to you.

I'm baffled at this point. She's being pretty combative and all I was trying to do was get some work done.

Me: I said its ok, I'm just trying to do work.
Mom: Well you know, sometimes you have to deal with inconvenience. That's life
Me: Ok, have a good one *puts headphones on*

I'm just... I don't understand. I just put my headphones on. I didn't say a damn thing about her rowdy kids.
