I don't like "alright catch 1000 fish because it's a checklist item" I like building up to goals, but I hate *meaningless* goals. Give me a task like "collect 400 stone for a Useful Shortcut", don't give me a task like "collect 400 stone because the NPC is really bored and might give you 20 gold for it" I'll fight monsters all day if the fight's fun enough, that's not really grinding in my eyes --- Why not go all in? ...
