Ign review is 7.7, their only real complaint is that it's story is awful. They say it's a hearty package with tons of content and fun to be had, and will leave you feeling satisfied, but the story sucks.

Like what. The score isn't bad, I just don't get that criticism. The series has literally never had a story worth mentioning. I've beat every game in the series, many many times, and I can't for the life of me even tell you what the plot was to a single one of the games.

They're assassination sandboxes.

There's minimal advertising for it, other than rhe sean bean thing and that's only on Facebook and YouTube ads.

They don't have the advertising budget.

Plus, it's coming out right after rdr2

A game can be very polished and do most things right and still only feel like a 7/10 ish game.

like 90% of game reviewers have no real qualifications to review games, they're basically a slight step up from those fat guys that review fast food items in their car. games just get scores based on how hyped & flashy they are

And that's not worthy of critique? I think the key thing is that the series *tries* to have a story and almost always comes up short, but we shouldn't necessarily forgive it because it's common the series. It should still get that criticism until it fully decides that it's not important.

The story deficiencies in Hitman 2 are actually the result of that split; Square made the cutscenes in season 1
